Thanks for your input on the yellow, I liked it but then was second guessing myself. I think I have a block picked out too. My week is turning out busier than I thought it would be, but maybe I'll get some sewing done...or at least iron my fabrics! :)

Bugaroo--love the bees. Those will be fun to work with.

This is going to be so much fun!!

sewbizgirl 06-15-2020 05:09 PM

Bug, the bee theme is so cute. I was going to suggest the same thing as LAF... maybe some leaves/vines coming from each corner? Perhaps some flower blossoms. You don't have a lot of room there. It's looking great, so far!

carriem, I agreed with the others that you should keep the yellow in your mix of colors. :-) Glad you seem to want to use it now.
Bugaroo, I'm enamored with your unusual Dresden in the first picture, I'd go with that in a heartbeat!

This is going to be so fun! I have the other quilts from the RR's that I have done in the past and I love them. Thanks for letting me in the group traveling grandma, started on my center today. I like it so far but have certainly changed my mind before...we'll see tomorrow. I need this, quilting and sewing has been my salvation.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you better, some of you for awhile and others not yet but it will happen. Hi Cuppy, it's been awhile since we saw each other, that was such a fun day that all of us had, shopping and lunch. Any plans on being in Florida this next winter TG? would be nice to get together again.
I'm so looking forward to getting a quilt and start pondering what to do, what to do....

travelinggramma 06-15-2020 06:33 PM

Welcome jaba, I am so glad you will be able to do this.
Cuppy had to step down so we are back to 5.
Bugaroo - I like the first one best. You can always add quilting around the edge later on.
I think I have settled on a pattern - of course it is the fifth pattern i have settled on!

What?! Cuppy is out? Why aren’t people using this thread to communicate things like this to the whole group? I made us this thread so everybody can stay in touch with everybody else without having to use the pm system. Please let’s use it and reserve pm for sensitive info, like mailing addresses and such.

Also, if “the group” doesn’t see you on this thread, some start to think you aren’t participating any longer. Let’s keep the chatter * Here*. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png Thank you very much.

I have narrowed down my block and getting the pattern printed out now...love the quilterscache.com for projects like this. :) I haven't done much sewing other than what had to be done for several months, so glad to finally have something to be excited about in the quilt room!!

I look forward to getting to know everyone. :)

A little about me... I have lived in Iowa all of my life. I've been married for over 23 yrs to my "high school sweetheart". We have three children (18, 20, and 22). Only the youngest is at home now...she is trying to finish getting her license to be an esthetician if the school would ever open again. She was supposed to start classes next week but they have moved it off again until July 6th. We'll see. In the meantime she is working full time. The other two are still living nearby for now...my son shoots archery nationally. He was in CA living at the Olympic Training Center before the virus stuff started and he got sent home. So far they have rescheduled outdoor tournaments to start in August (usually the 1st is in April). He has gone back to work for the contractor he had worked for for 4+yrs...started at 16 (benefit of being homeschooled!). Moved out last month. Our oldest daughter lives in a nearby city and has struggled a bit but trying to get her life in order now.

I decided at 18 (right after we were married) that I wanted to learn to sew. I made clothing for the first few years for myself and our girls. My first quilt was in 2007 and I haven't turned back since...almost 80 quilts finished to date, not counting wallhangings, table runners, etc. Of course there are flimsies I need to get quilted one of these days and that number would jump up pretty quickly.https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png Like many of you I have a small sewing machine collection...my old machines are all Singers. I can't rattle off the models of each, but I have a treadle that was my great-grandma's, a machine that was my husband's grandma's, plus one in a cabinet (this one I got at a garage sale when I first started sewing for $25 and still works great) and another with a rounded top wooded case (this one needs some wiring done, but they all run if needed). My daily machine is a Janome 6600. Oh yeah and I got one this past fall that is in a desk type cabinet. It needs a bobbin case, but isn't locked up or anything...

Me too, Mary, I'd like to do a RR again in December, :-) Maybe we can just keep this thread going!

Keeping this thread going would be fun. Doing another round robin in December and thru the winter months would give me something to have fun working on. Winter months can get very long now that I am retired.

I was pretty sure I had the start of a nice medallion somewhere in my stash, I had started it and then changed directions so it got put in a tote and set aside.

I dug it out last night, and I think it's going to work well. It's only about 10" round so will have the fun of adding to make it bigger. .

How much input are we expected to provide to those adding rounds to our centers? I'm already working on a medallion quilt that is predominantly red, so would like to ask that reds are used sparingly for this one.

sewbizgirl 06-16-2020 06:39 AM

Macybaby, I don’t know how it’s “usually” done, but I wouldn’t mind if someone wanted to include a note to circulate with their quilt, with special preferences. Something like “don’t add too much red” or “keep to the theme of the center if possible.”
