I sent out all my fabric today, but I had a left over address label when I got home!

I sent out 50 envelopes, so if you got two from me but should have got one, let me know!

Right now I am just saying a little prayer that I somehow printed an extra label!

yayaquilts 10-02-2011 08:30 AM

I received my F8 from roseysue yesterday.....what to make?!?!?!

Question: did anyone go to the post office counter to mail international, since the envelope has fabric in it or did you just mail with postage suggested for weight????

marytoddliz 10-02-2011 09:15 AM

I went to the counter for all my envelopes, I did not have to fill out custom, papers, but I did have to pay more postage. It was less than $2.00. I can't remember the exact amount. But I also had to put two stamps on each envelope since they were too fat to get through this measuring device they had. I was just so happy to get them in the mail. I know what I did wrong this time, I put them in a small envelope and the baggie would not stay up-puffy, next time I will use cling wrap!

Thanks, the fabric is fun! I used to live near Modesto, I lived in Madera which is about 1 hour away. Right now I live in Southern Calif in the San Bernardino Mtns. It is near Arrowhead, and Big Bear. It is really beautiful here but we are a little ways away from shopping, so I do a lot of online shopping.

Thanks. I also made mistake of getting "clasp" envelopes--so I took the clasps off the int'l ones. I also used 2 stamps for each of the other ones. We will know next time.

My Quilt is intended to be a Christmas theme with those colors. If you got a pointsettia, a fussy cut pointsettia for the center, like a 6 1/2" opening,Or whetever you would you would like.I was thinking , this close Christmas, everyone would have those colors.

Any more questions, let me know. Just have fun!

So do I. It is easier to tend to go overboard that way - so many choices and in a comfortable chair.

Sorry, roseysue, to confuse you...I didn't mean to ask you what to make....I meant for me...I assumed a Christmas theme by the fabric and have a couple of ideas.

Hello everyone! I am hoping to find a f8th in my mailbox tomorrow or tuesday. It's so fun to see what others pick out and then to choose a block pattern that will make the fabric sing! I love to quilt, but think it is so fun to share it with others.

marytoddliz 10-02-2011 03:53 PM

I agree, it's the friendship part that is the best part. I love fabric, you can tell by my sewing room, it is overflowing with all kinds of different fabrics! I can't wait to get my first package! it should be a lot of fun! I agree that sometimes it begs to be used in a specific way!

Right now I am working on a keepsake quilt for a customer who recently lost her sister. When I work with the items sent to me to put into a keepsake quilt, I try to imagine that person and who they were! I love doing keepsake memory quilts, the joy of the memories is awesome....OK back to work for me!

jillnjo 10-03-2011 09:15 AM

I received 3 f8's today! Thanks and I like all of them.

From: roseysue
Marybeth
Sewhappy30

Is this the correct way to let each person know or are we to send each a PM?

I think we will all be following this thread, so putting the info here would be sufficient.

My f8s will be going into the mail tomorrow. Slow - I am sorry. Just finishing another swap and getting my DD off for another quarter of school.

Quilt Mom 10-03-2011 12:19 PM

I just got back from the post office. I was soooo excited about my squishies that I forgot to run all my errands ( ) I received squishies from:

Jillnjo
Roseysue
Sewhappy30

OOH! Now the fun begins - right after I go get those other errands taken care of. :-(

marytoddliz 10-03-2011 01:08 PM

OK Ladies I did another boo boo. I got married 10 months ago (LOL No that is not my boo boo he is GREAT!), but we had a hard time gettin marriage cert from Hawaii. So I am Marybeth Todd still for the banks and on here so I can use pay pal.

But I sent out envelopes with Marybeth Nieves! So sorry for the confusion! The post office will deliver either, just did not want to confuse you if you got a envelope from Mary Nieves! Isn't that clear as mud????

Heading to PO right now to see what I got!

marytoddliz 10-03-2011 01:44 PM

Yippie, I got 9 squshies... now to figure out which one... Autumn or Spring!

jillnjo
marytoddliz

Both fabric are beautiful. Marybeth I love the bright colors, it's so cheerful. Nancy, what a warm and relaxing tone your fabric has, I can't wait to get started on them both. Checking my stash tonight and finding the perfect pattern for each fabric. I'm off work tomorrow, so guess what I'll be doing? LOL

HI All,

I'm a newbie and am looking so forward to this. I mailed all F8's today except for the international ones. I'll have to visit the office for those, I am not too sure how to handle the postage and fabric. Hmm. I did great a Spring squishie from Jillnjo.

I have attached a picture of my fabrics for this group. You will receive one of the Laura Burch fabs!

marytoddliz 10-03-2011 02:09 PM

I love Laura Burch fabrics, my hubby was teasing me when I came back from PO all excited, like it was Christmas or something. He said if he knew a little envelope of fabric would make me so happy he would send one every day!

Are we supposed to post pics of the blocks we finish or surprise the recipient??

marytoddliz 10-03-2011 04:05 PM

I want to be surprised! But let's ask someone who has done it before! In my other group, Autumn they are going to post pic's off site and have a link to them, not usre how that works but I know I have been looking at some of the link's in previous booms

I believe April put in the rules to let the recipient post the pics, so they are surprised. However, I think it's ok to put a link to your website if you have them posted there. That way they won't accidently see what you did unless they choose to go to the site and check it out.

I want to be surprised. However I hope I'll be able to post the block after I receive it. So just in case please take a picture of mine and if I cannot post it after I receive it I would appreciate it if you all would post it. Thanks.

troy26 10-03-2011 04:15 PM

All my blocks for this group went out today, so they should be in your mail boxes in the next two weeks - fingers crossed. Have fun!

Hi all,
I received two Spting F8s today:

marytoddlix sent very colorful fabric which will be fun to match.

sewhappy30 her fabric can be called a subdued "I spy" kind of thing. You will get it when you read her note.

The F8 of fabric arrived in my mailbox today. There was no name or address with the fabric. It was postmarked San Antonio, Tx.

If this fabric is yours, please pm me so I know who to send the grownup block too.

Thanks, Sue G

Ok--good idea. I won't post the pictures of blocks I finish. Thanks everyone. Just about finished with my first block!!

yayaquilts 10-03-2011 05:55 PM

I received 2 F8's today: jillnjo and sew happy 30. Now to decide on the perfect pattern for each!!

brenda21 10-03-2011 06:21 PM

I received three f8s today...jillnjo, sewhappy30, and roseysue...all awesome fabrics!!

sewhappy30 10-03-2011 06:23 PM

Got both my patterns and fabrics picked out for the 2 f8's I received today. All fabric washed and ready to go. No work tomorrow because of the election so I get to stay home and sew all day. Should have both blocks done tomorrow, jillnjo and marytoddliz.

yayaquilts 10-03-2011 06:39 PM

Another question: I assume we return any unused portion of the F8's to the original quilter?!?

jillnjo 10-03-2011 06:40 PM

You are on the go with your blocks, Gena! Have fun sewing tomorrow! I have a small project I want to piece and then I'll start working on mine, too! Off to bed for me. nancy

Yes we keep it.

marytoddliz 10-03-2011 11:10 PM

I got my first block finished and sent out, but it is from the other group. I am going to do a few more tomorrow, so I will be looking at the fabric I got to go with!

This is so much fun!

sewhappy30 10-04-2011 04:42 AM

Getting ready to start on my first block! Marybeth, you are on top of things already 1 done and mailed Wow that's great, just 49 more to go.

hoppyfrog 10-04-2011 07:16 AM

Hi everyone. I mailed all of the envelopes yesterday (10/3). Each one is a different black and white fabric. This is going to be a charity quilt.
Also received three envelopes yesterday from Jillnjo, sewhappy30 and roseysue. Nice fabrics ladies. I'm headed to the sewing room now to pull fabrics and patterns. This is my third boom swap and it's wonderful working with new people. Happy sewing.
Shelley

Advice:

What is the best way to figure out how to end up with a 12 1/2 " square?
I started to look at patterns last night and some are 9", 10", etc. I've never done a block that I had to send to someone else, so now it matters. For my own sizes I didn't really care as long as they are more or less came squared out in the end same sizes.
I thought it would be easy, but now I realize I will need to go through alot of 'mock ups' to get the sizing down right. Since I want to experiment learning new blocks.

marytoddliz 10-04-2011 08:27 AM

I am also in that boat! But I have been doing samples as soon as I knew I was going to do this swap. I found a lot of my 12 in blocks in some of the quilting books I have.

My problem is now making sure it is 12 1/2 after it is finished. My seams are really good so I think some of the pattern pieces aren't exactlly the right size so do the test and measure the one inch square. That is what helped me the most.

sewhappy30 10-04-2011 08:45 AM

Just finished my first block. It is so bright and cheerful, guess who's that would be...marytoddliz
Now on to my next one.

I think they are to be 12" finished, 12 1/2 unfinished. When you measure your completed block, before it is sewn into the quilt, it should measure 12 1/2".

deltadawn 10-04-2011 09:14 AM

Wow ! I received a F8th today - sure arrived quickly .
FROM JILLINJO

Am sending mine out next week due to work commitments so you may get your completed block back with my fabric .
