I sent out all my fabric today, but I had a left over address label when I got home!
I sent out 50 envelopes, so if you got two from me but should have got one, let me know! Right now I am just saying a little prayer that I somehow printed an extra label! |
I received my F8 from roseysue yesterday.....what to make?!?!?!
Question: did anyone go to the post office counter to mail international, since the envelope has fabric in it or did you just mail with postage suggested for weight???? |
I went to the counter for all my envelopes, I did not have to fill out custom, papers, but I did have to pay more postage. It was less than $2.00. I can't remember the exact amount. But I also had to put two stamps on each envelope since they were too fat to get through this measuring device they had. I was just so happy to get them in the mail. I know what I did wrong this time, I put them in a small envelope and the baggie would not stay up-puffy, next time I will use cling wrap!

Thanks, the fabric is fun! I used to live near Modesto, I lived in Madera which is about 1 hour away. Right now I live in Southern Calif in the San Bernardino Mtns. It is near Arrowhead, and Big Bear. It is really beautiful here but we are a little ways away from shopping, so I do a lot of online shopping.

Hello everyone! I am hoping to find a f8th in my mailbox tomorrow or tuesday. It's so fun to see what others pick out and then to choose a block pattern that will make the fabric sing! I love to quilt, but think it is so fun to share it with others.
|
I agree, it's the friendship part that is the best part. I love fabric, you can tell by my sewing room, it is overflowing with all kinds of different fabrics! I can't wait to get my first package! it should be a lot of fun! I agree that sometimes it begs to be used in a specific way!

HI All,
I'm a newbie and am looking so forward to this. I mailed all F8's today except for the international ones. I'll have to visit the office for those, I am not too sure how to handle the postage and fabric. Hmm. I did great a Spring squishie from Jillnjo. I have attached a picture of my fabrics for this group. You will receive one of the Laura Burch fabs! - Ruth |
I love Laura Burch fabrics, my hubby was teasing me when I came back from PO all excited, like it was Christmas or something. He said if he knew a little envelope of fabric would make me so happy he would send one every day!

Are we supposed to post pics of the blocks we finish or surprise the recipient??
|
I want to be surprised! But let's ask someone who has done it before! In my other group, Autumn they are going to post pic's off site and have a link to them, not usre how that works but I know I have been looking at some of the link's in previous booms

I believe April put in the rules to let the recipient post the pics, so they are surprised. However, I think it's ok to put a link to your website if you have them posted there. That way they won't accidently see what you did unless they choose to go to the site and check it out.

Hi all,
I received two Spting F8s today: marytoddlix sent very colorful fabric which will be fun to match. sewhappy30 her fabric can be called a subdued "I spy" kind of thing. You will get it when you read her note. The F8 of fabric arrived in my mailbox today. There was no name or address with the fabric. It was postmarked San Antonio, Tx. If this fabric is yours, please pm me so I know who to send the grownup block too. Thanks, Sue G |

|
I received three f8s today...jillnjo, sewhappy30, and roseysue...all awesome fabrics!!
|
Got both my patterns and fabrics picked out for the 2 f8's I received today. All fabric washed and ready to go. No work tomorrow because of the election so I get to stay home and sew all day. Should have both blocks done tomorrow, jillnjo and marytoddliz.
|
Another question: I assume we return any unused portion of the F8's to the original quilter?!?
|
You are on the go with your blocks, Gena! Have fun sewing tomorrow! I have a small project I want to piece and then I'll start working on mine, too! Off to bed for me. nancy

I got my first block finished and sent out, but it is from the other group. I am going to do a few more tomorrow, so I will be looking at the fabric I got to go with!
This is so much fun! |
Getting ready to start on my first block! Marybeth, you are on top of things already 1 done and mailed Wow that's great, just 49 more to go.
|
Hi everyone. I mailed all of the envelopes yesterday (10/3). Each one is a different black and white fabric. This is going to be a charity quilt.
Also received three envelopes yesterday from Jillnjo, sewhappy30 and roseysue. Nice fabrics ladies. I'm headed to the sewing room now to pull fabrics and patterns. This is my third boom swap and it's wonderful working with new people. Happy sewing. Shelley |
Advice:
What is the best way to figure out how to end up with a 12 1/2 " square? I started to look at patterns last night and some are 9", 10", etc. I've never done a block that I had to send to someone else, so now it matters. For my own sizes I didn't really care as long as they are more or less came squared out in the end same sizes. I thought it would be easy, but now I realize I will need to go through alot of 'mock ups' to get the sizing down right. Since I want to experiment learning new blocks. |
I am also in that boat! But I have been doing samples as soon as I knew I was going to do this swap. I found a lot of my 12 in blocks in some of the quilting books I have.
My problem is now making sure it is 12 1/2 after it is finished. My seams are really good so I think some of the pattern pieces aren't exactlly the right size so do the test and measure the one inch square. That is what helped me the most. |
Just finished my first block. It is so bright and cheerful, guess who's that would be...marytoddliz
Now on to my next one. |
