Well, the completed blocks look really good JoanneS and Klue! Kudo's to you both...you are still just wanting to tempt me aren't you!!!

Klue...I would think that the sew along directions / questions could be one thread and Pics of completed blocks could be another thread..probably under swaps? We are getting some projects on the board that last for awhile, but I do think everyone enjoys following them even if they are not participating at the time.

KLue hasn't posted yet, but I know she'll tell you that it's NOT too late. Pick a block and send it to her, and she'll add you to the list. Look up a few posts and you'll see the latest list of who's making what!! I think the deadline is in October....

Didn't want to speak for KLue, but didn't want to leave you waiting anymore in case you wanted to sew right now!!!!

you can speak for me any time, i feel like you know me so well.

its not to late, the cut off time is how quickly anyone can meet the deal mailing date of 10/31.

if someone has some spare time you could make a set in about 2 days.

if you need help picking a block, let me know.

if you need templates/cutting/paper piece pattern just send me your email in a PM and i'll send it all out to you.

yes, i think you're right and the IRR will be a good indication of how admin wants it to be handled.

i really just want to give him the heads up so that he can prevent the threads from ever being deleted. when its all done he can move all the thread into one on the tutorial board.

i think it will be a really nice thing for the forum to have for its current and future members who wish to make a Jane quilt.

i think you should find a few spare hours and jump in on this - all the blocks are going to be just stunning.

i've been playing around with some designs and if you mix in some other simpler blocks (log cabin, stars, etc) you can end up with a beautiful throw from just 1 set.

Icandothat 08-10-2009 06:03 PM

I have been hovering in the background enjoying the excitement this quilt can create. This group effort demonstrates the sharing attitude of the participants, especially Klue for her willingness to inspire and organize us.
I want to join in and participate. Hopefully, I can replicate and construct these intricate cuts of fabric into a design that I, too, would be proud to share.
Please put me down for blocks J7 and K13.

kluedesigns 08-10-2009 06:14 PM

i'm so glad you decided to jump in.

you sure did jump in with both fee too - doing 2 blocks.

here's a sample of all the blocks so far. they are listed in order going across.

you can compare to the "taken" list and see what each block looks like.

this quilt is 59 inches square and its for 36 blocks.

Esqmommy 08-10-2009 06:49 PM

I don't see mine in there...

Bucket 08-10-2009 07:00 PM

I'd love to join in. I'm moving in a week to a new state and could use a project to keep my mind off the goodbyes. I'm not sure how the picking process works. I figure we were doing battle ship style. If so, I'd like to make m5. Thanks!

i think the blocks just looks different because these are the stock civil war fabrics in the software unlike the others that i colored to match the swap colors.

your blocks are 4th in the 1st row (B3) and last in the 3rd row (I1).

we'd love for you to join in. sadly M5 has already been called and they sunk that battleship.

Wow I missed a bit I just caught up reading and looking at all the great blocks. I have not started yet. I have a couple of other swap obligations and then I will begin. Great Job Klue on organizing this I am really excited to do this and I can't wait for the Sew Along. I bought this software while I was out with knee surgery in May and I was hoping to find just this sort of thing.

P.S I love the tree block it is perfect!

Cher

here's how a 36 block throw would look with triangle borders. its just under 67 inches square.

i just love the triangle blocks, even though some are super tough, i just love them.

kluedesigns 08-11-2009 03:01 AM

now we're up to 38 blocks across 24 people.

here's the newest taken list.

sandpat 08-11-2009 05:12 AM

OK....you got me....L4 to start. Could you please send me the drawing of the block? I still haven't ordered the software yet. Now...to just see what fabric I can find around here to work these up!!

reneebobby 08-11-2009 05:32 AM

I think I'm going to hop in, I need to go buy some fabric how much should I buy?

I haven't decided between A1, E3, or E9 needs to be pretty simple and could you send me the pattern. ( I might do 2 of them)

I do have the book though, but I'm not sure how to make it 5"

Icandothat 08-11-2009 05:47 AM

Klue,
I would appreciate anything you can send me that would help with the blocks I chose. (J7 and K13)
Also, the labels.
Not sure how to send a PM...I think this reply will go to the forum. I am learning how to navigate the site.
Again, thanks for leading this effort.

the general guideline for fabric is 1/4 of a FQ makes 2 blocks.

please let me know which ones you've settled on - this way a new person coming in can choose the other block/blocks. i haven't put you down for anything yet.

once you know the blocks just give me your email and i'll send you the templates/foundations/cutting.
