Also, KLue, found my squares just were you said. Yes, they look extremely different.

i would love to do a triangle swap.

sadly, i think that list would like 4 people because thats about how many simple triangles there are - so it would never really get off the ground.

i don't think thats really necessary, who knows how people want to set their blocks.

not to mention the tree would look fine on point.

i put that up because i want a pre-designed EQ layout that holds 36 - instead of drawing it up myself.

if you want to change it because you just don't feel inspired thats a different story but i really do think your block is beautiful and it really sets the entire tone of the swap - and i'm not saying that to be nice.

(i'm metro NYC we don't say things to be nice).

We'll get our fill when we are making our own DJ's. If we didn't have to make 18...oh well, nice thought.

Also, the labels.
Not sure how to send a PM...I think this reply will go to the forum. I am learning how to navigate the site.
Again, thanks for leading this effort.

Esqmommy 08-11-2009 09:14 AM

So how many more would we need that if I made three sets, I'd get one of each??

reneebobby 08-11-2009 09:18 AM

Okay quick question,

hahaha

I thing I'm going to paper piece this one should I iron after I sew every seam?

Esqmommy 08-11-2009 09:27 AM

I'm thinking 54 blocks? Is that right? We're close...if 12 people go for one more...we could be there...

What sorts of things could we make with 54 blocks? Perhaps even a real Christmas DJ quilt?? (absent the borders...)

Anyone??

i typically don't. i use some starch on my fabric and i'm able to finger press over.

i'll only press in between each piece when i'm doing sharp thin points like in a tiny NY Beauty.

yes, we need to reach 54 blocks to avoid dups in 3 sets.

i'll see what size you can set into with 3 sets - i think you could reach an actual bed size quilt - at least a twin size.

reneebobby 08-11-2009 09:41 AM

Wow three sets I'm happy to be doing 1 but if I do really well, I toss my hat in for a second. :D

kluedesigns 08-11-2009 09:42 AM

ok guys.....

i'm putting L7 back into play - in case some one wants an easier block.

L7 is based on a 9 patch layout so everything can be strip pieced except the center block which is a square in square layout.

the square in square can be paper pieced. i have templates made with 9 center sqaures on 1 sheet of paper - so you'll have what you need in just 2 sheets of foundation.

if anyone wants L7 just let me know and i'll send you my file and you can strip piece the rest.

KLue- can you look over the list and give me some options of 2 or 3 easy ones? Company leaves Mon. and I will be semi-sane (although my house is a complete disaster area and I hate messes). I will have all of Sept. to sew.

btw- the software you got from Joann's- did you buy it at the store or online? Love the triangles for the borders- should we do a swap for these? just kidding- I'm thinking of taking these blocks and keep going to see if I can do a whole DJ in Christmas themed fabric.

thanks!
Barb

i got the software from joanne's online for $40 including tax the shipping is free.

i'm putting the easy blocks in another post so other can see the list too.

if you're looking to make an entire jane quilt i would do 3 sets because that will cover about 1/3 of the blocks in the original jane quilt.

there's 169 blocks in the quilt and 3 sets will get you 54 of them - not to shabby.

kluedesigns 08-11-2009 12:49 PM

for all watching here's a list of some easy blocks still available

(by no means does this mean these are the only easy ones remaining - these are just the ones off the top of my head - i'm in the lab right now)

I may be crazy and hope I can fit this all in time wise but I would like to do L6 also. I may just have to pick ones i want to try making and work on them over the next year! There are a lot more than i realized that I could make. There are some that I don't care to try but there are alot that are interesting to see if I can redraft to make them easier to do.

Yes Klue I think you have me hooked!
