Very pretty pinklady, love that fabric!

terriamn 08-29-2013 08:03 PM

I worked on my runner and decided it wasn't what I was going for so it's back to the drawing board for me :-(

Terriamn

JuanitaBean 08-29-2013 08:46 PM

pinklady love all your fabrics. Have fun I know I will like whatever you do.

chickadeee55 08-30-2013 02:21 AM

Oh Boy, Pink Lady I love your fabrics!!!!!!

Cindy60545 08-30-2013 02:32 AM

Whew! I got one of my show pieces done! One's on the frame being quilted. One's still in pieces! But, it's nearing completion. Still have one needing serious work left to do. All by the end of Sept.! I have assembled stuff for DustyMomma's runner. Figured out the pattern too. Now to get it all together!! It's tough this time of year, 'cuz it gets too hot in the studio in the afternoons, so have to do my quilting early.

Elisabrat 08-30-2013 03:44 AM

Thank you to everyone who took the time to say HI it is a good thing to see a few more of you are still not hiding in the woods (phew!). Terriam I so feel you. I am in a sewing rut. I hate to say it but I am. I have two projects on the table half done.. think ick on both. do I restart? do I kick my tail and say go with it and make it what you love.. or do I lay on the floor and kick? oh yes last night BIG MOUTH ME says to a very good friend who is always very generous to me with fabric pieces and such.. sure I can do that. She wants six pot holders. Not my favorite thing to make lots of binding for a little thing.. then she says.. in a WEEK. a fundraiser. I see hand binding six little things she wants fracture crazy quilted (sure no problem the old mouth said).. and I want to kick. that means a whole lot of little pieces to get that affect in a POTHOLDER.. ugh. I said I have some of your designer stuff .. but I have this adorable little animal face stuff.. (how to fracture that? no clue) and we are talking POT HOLDERS.. I tried to detour her but she has six raffle baskets and needs matching sets and oh crud. Brat is over commited. I am turning that bright big sewing light on too bad if dh is sleeping I have to get moving on the other stuff to make room for this kind of stuff. argh pirates! Keep the faith and keep encouraging each other. a you can do it brat is a good thing also. these days pass :) long weekend for most of you.. enjoy your BBQ's your family dinners, your quiet time from work and others.. just enjoy it. I know it can be beautiful. :)

dabbler312 08-30-2013 04:23 AM

Finished binding a prior commitment project last night - YAHOO - fabric for my partners project is ironed and waiting to be cut; will try and get a good start this weekend. If I have time tonight I'll try and get a fabric teaser photo posted.

DustysMomma 08-30-2013 04:27 AM

Finally stitched out the last embroidery block for my runner last night. The last week has been hectic with work. I had our benefits annual open enrollment Friday through Wednesday, we had a corporate visit on Wednesday (and another one next week because the 2 cousin's don't like one another & won't come at the same time), had to work at my 2nd job last Saturday, and we're getting ready for month end. Thank God for Monday off! I'm going to spend a lot of time in the sewing room this weekend, except during the Auburn football game tomorrow. I need to finish this runner this weekend, and since the man's brother is coming next weekend and I have 3 sewing projects to finish for his wife for him to take back, I gotta get on them next. Luckily, 1 is a soft book for his son, and the other two are chef's apron's, one for his wife with a matching one for his son to grow into. I also need to throw together a 1st birthday set for the baby, just because, if I have time, since his birthday is 1st week of October. Oh yeah, and I need to put together a wall hanging for Rhonda's swap. I think I decided on something finally, so I'll put it together tonight & tomorrow too!

Oksewnsew 08-30-2013 07:17 AM

Pink Lady, your fabrics are gorgeous.. I love Fall fabrics.

Cogito 08-30-2013 07:18 AM

YOU CAN DO IT BRAT!!! :D
Thought you might need an extra " you can do it" lol.

mom-6 08-30-2013 08:33 AM

Oh such gorgeousness I'm seeing on here!!!
Brat, I know exactly what you mean. Some days you just need to do something else. Finally got back on the jumbo Dresden which is now a little girls forest fairy skirt. Just made a little bit bigger opening in the center and did an elastic waistband then turned under the bottom edge for a hem. Should have gotten out my serger, but it intimidates me. Lol!

Think the log cabin one needs to be bigger so I have to do some more cutting (someday).

Ready to sew binding on my leaves and pumpkins runner. Don't know who it's for yet, might keep it. Imagine such a concept!

Chickadeee55's batik one is all finished and ready to mail whenever she's ready for it.

But before I go play I have jars to wick for our next show. So better get busy on that so I can play!

Have a great day everyone.

Patty

skaduzy 08-30-2013 05:44 PM

I know what you mean, Brat, I am just digging myself out of the over-committed myself tunnel and ready to start fun stuff like my doll quilt, tablerunner and wallhanging.....in that order. I guess I don't know how to say NO! Anxious to start the doll quilt and have my fabric and pattern picked out for the tablerunner. My partner said she is starting this weekend. I will be starting hers next week. Everyone have a nice holiday.

Ok, add me in to the having a hard time on this one...in a rut...whatever it is...
My partner wants Fall and she's not keen on pumpkins ( I know, no pumpkins for Fall??). I am kidding, my partner has been super sweet, and I have plenty of options...too many I think..maybe that's my problem...
So, I took some pics of a couple of color options..I am still deciding between 3 patterns, so don't know how many of the fabrics will get used, center fabrics will be the "focus" fabric...Just wanting some feedback please:

and if my partner happens upon this, please tell me which color options you like best!! :)
Thanks all,
Kif
PS I am certainly not saying one can have too much fabric, just in case this seems to be what I am implying...no way, no how...That's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

chickadeee55 08-31-2013 02:21 AM

KIF, looking at your fabrics, in the last pic, the one in the center with the leaves - for some reason I just love it. I see it in my head made up as a stain glass fall runner. Wow, now I want some of it! Very pretty piece.

Chasezzz 08-31-2013 03:07 AM

Gotta agree with chickadee...the leaves in the bottom pic should be the focus fabric. That fabric's gorgeous, and you have plenty of complimentary fabrics to build out your design.

Elisabrat 08-31-2013 04:33 AM

I think you should make those for me then you wouldn't have to worry about making your partner smile because mine would be blinding with that big Cheshire cat grin :) love your fabrics both sets are beautiful. I go for the first set more because well it falls right into my color palate. (ie send them to me). I just love the fall fabrics out there gorgeous and so warm and inviting.. I need this one and that one and a bit of this one for sure oh need that one. keep me out of the store. seriously. like a once a month visit MAX.

Yesterday was a seriously not grand sewing day. I finally got to sewing on my wall hanging and .. was on the phone (oh good plan that was) and not paying attention and quilted a whole bunch of it. I was very pleased. til I turned it over and saw it was entirely eyelashed the whole way. took me hours to remove the stitching pick out the little snipsels of string.. I was so mad. So I rearranged livingroom furniture. I know so what you do when you have lots of quilting projects to do. move furniture. well I like it now but that didn't help my plight to finish things. I think I was stalling or fearing failure again so it was good to walk away. I am sure you have days like this too. ok maybe not sure but hope they don't come often. beautifully warm windy morning. Here in Wyoming it appears to be windy in the a.m. and then windy again later in the day. I am hoping its not oh so hot again. But can't change it so guess one just counts the days.. soon it will be fall and I hear its a short one. Jan is the resident expert guess I should ask her.. again.

terriamn 08-31-2013 05:23 AM

Yesterday

Yesterday was end of cycle and my department worked 12 hours, then I had to run all their timecards since I took an additional day off. To be truthful it wiped me out just can't handle the stress and the long hours anymore. Had a pleasant end to the long day, arrived at the lake for the holiday weekend and dh was there along with one of our granddaughters. The rest of her family will join us Sunday for a barbecue and water activities. By then I should have a little more get up and go back. Today Abby and I are going to our first horse show and then to the town's all city garage sale. Her Mom is going to kill me :-)

sapdoggie 08-31-2013 07:51 AM

terriamn - so wish I was there- garage sales are one of my favorite activities. I love looking at other people's "junk" and getting bargains for me ! It also makes me realize I should be the one cleaning out the "junk" at my house.

Now Brat- you can not have all of the runners ! You must share ! Besides, how many tables can one person have ?

At a stopping place in the quilting department- no more batting :(. Sure would be great to have a money tree ready to harvest in the back yard. :D Joann's had a roll of batting on a great sale last month, but alas it was gone when I had the $$$$.

I am thinking aout using fleece for the back of the grandkid quilts, so will not put batting in them. Have six to make, so had best hop to it !

DustysMomma 08-31-2013 08:12 AM

2 more seams on the front, piece the back & decide how I'm going to quilt it & I'm all done. I'm probably going to keep the quilting simple though since I haven't gotten my quilting hoop yet though. No, you can't have any more sneak peeks Cindy! No, you either Brat!

I bought a piece of fabric for the backing that I really like, and planned to make the runner the same size for a 1-piece back, but by the time I made the front like I wanted it, it was bigger than expected, so a pieced back it is! Now I just have to decide if I'm doing a pillowcase turn on it or if I'm binding it. I really like the pillowcase edge if you're going to use it where anything will be set on it. Less worry that something will dump over because of the thickness of the binding & stain it up!

Gotta get this done so I can make some aprons!

Just finished my block of the week! Now on to my runner. I have 5 blocks done just need to figure out how I'm gonna put them all together.

Here's my BOW: the black hanging ball will be a spider after it's all put together!

DustysMomma- you didn't say I couldn't have a sneak peek- I am waiting :D

tlambing- love it even though spiders are not my favorite critters !

Don't worry, he'll be whimsical :)

Akweiland 08-31-2013 08:48 AM

Just checking in! I just got back from a short vacation to Oregon, where I has the pleasure of visiting Fabric Depot in Portland. Thank you to those who suggested it when I posted a thread. I bought my partners fabric there and am busy pre washing today. After visiting with her, I have a pattern picked out as well. :)

I am excited to make this Fall table topper, but alas it is looking like fall is certainly here in Alaska. I want another summer first - too bad I do not always get what I want. Lol

You're right! Maybe I'll email you a picture of the top now that I have it finished & laid out on my sewing room floor for measuring to work out the backing. :D 54-1/2 x 17-1/2....I'm glad she said she had a big table!

kiffie2413 08-31-2013 05:02 PM

Brat,
Sorry to say but I never have days where I just can't make myself get to my quilting....I have weeks and more!!
tlambing, that block is darling! Did you make up the pattern? I see you said its your block of the week, and I love Halloween...Autumn....heck pretty much everything except One block wonder quilts...and on those it's probably because I never made one...just like I used to not be too fond of paisley and large flower prints...now I find I am drawn to them...so eating crow with my foot in my mouth at the same time!
K
PS Thanks for the feedback on my fabric options...the 2nd one is winning by a landslide...It's only a half yard piece, all that was up for bid; luckily it has selvage info and I was able to find ONE place that has some for sale...so I bought it! I'm sorry, but I admit it...I love that fabric so much that if I couldn't have gotten more I am not sure I would have used it in a runner that wasn't staying with me!!! Bwahahahaa...haa..ha..a...ahem...:o Okay, okay, I would have used it..in one or 2 blocks...small ones...;)

Kiffie2413....awww can't have you begging now can we :) Here is a little sneak peak of the main fabrics, did a little quilting on it this morning. Hope you like the fabrics, if not let me know and I will whip up another to your liking :) Fabric on right side is the backing piece.

Oh the fabrics are a lot brighter in 'real life', I really don't do photography that well LOL

What lovely fabrics! I have batik fabrics, but nothing made from them that I have kept, so this will be perfect!! Off to do a lil happy dance and maybe just cha-cha over to my sewing area and do some quilting, too. Thanks for answering my "begging".

Elisabrat 09-01-2013 03:44 AM

block of the week? now you got me wondering.. where did you get that pattern? and skip the spider the lovely block is fine WITHOUT IT.. no such thing as a whimsical spider they are all wrong.

I say then go with the number 1 set and keep number two for you silly girl. I think the first set is so warm and inviting its a gorgeous set.. you can not lose with it :) of course this is me, I buy it for me never make it for me so what am I saying? Its so pretty it says use it right? there will be more so pretties out there trust me. wish the wallet was in line with my OH I NEED THAT ONE! lol

oksewnsew glad to hear your finished.. music to my ears hearing FINISHED or almost FINISHED.. oh yes that makes the old brat grandly happy so thank you for that. what a good way to start my day! la la la .. la la la la..

oh and ARE YOU KIDDING how many tables can a person have? I could easily change out my table runners daily/weekly depending on how many I had so of course I want them all :) it would work for me just fine! ps I have a table a side board a dinner table a dresser another dresser so of course I have spots for these things.. end tables in case they are smaller so you can all send to me. Don't listen to sapdoggie she is totally wrong. I also hang them on the wall if they really need to be looked at all year long so .. le Brat has room. lucky me :)

NOW GET SEWING.. andele! mush mush! please??

That's ok I haven't cut the first piece for yours! Been busy on the longarm! I should be able to get to it towards the end of the week. Got things assembled though. Ideas are pretty much solidified. Probably change before I get to it though.

DustysMomma 09-01-2013 08:18 AM

I sent a dropbox link of the finished top to sapdoggie, lol. Neener neener! Since you haven't started yet, and I'm ready to sandwich, I think I'll put it aside and work the rest of the weekend on the things that have to go back to Denmark with the man's brother when he comes to visit next weekend. Sometime between now & then I have to clean up the sewing room & turn it into a guest room again, which means hiding all my sewy/quilty toys & fabric! Then there'll be 3 days of no sewing while he's here. :(

MartiMorga 09-01-2013 08:52 AM

Love all the chit chat. Love the first set of fabrics - just like le-brat. I have finished painting 2 closets now to put the crap back in them, the new "right" carpet comes Wed., put that room back together and I am FREE!!!! YIPEE!!!Even my husband even gives me the look of "how about doing this project" I am going to have to kong him! I have 1 more picking day and only have to make/can apple butter and apple pie filling. Then...then....then....it will be me and my machines, so help me God.

Cheesehead 09-01-2013 10:20 AM

Marti, I am just finishing up your table runner. I just have to hand stitch the binding to the back and it will be done. This is the 3rd runner I have finished for you. The 1st one was a round bargello that ended up to only be 20" round. Then the 2nd one I thought wasn't long enough, that was 33 "long. Finally I think I might have it right, this last one is finishing up at 48"long. One of these days I will post a sneak peek picture. Jan

That's cool, just put it on the back burner til your company leaves. I won't get to yours til next weekend. I might be able to get it cut out & ready for sewing before then, but I've got to get this show quilt off the frame first. So far I'm onto the 7th bobbin & probably going to go through another 2 or 3. It's heavily quilted. Durn thing is only 72" square!

I SAW IT  And I am not telling :p  :D You will love it :)

Elisabrat 09-02-2013 03:39 AM

20 inches is good for a table topper isn't it? sounded fine to me and there is not set rule on size you know other than not too tiny and not to humongous. sounds like your doing fine cheesehead :)

I spent the evening with Jaba last night and she helped me a ton on my table runner. I am unsure what I would do without her guidance and assistance at times. I get these blocks and once I put them in my head its like I can't step over it. We are our own worst enemies. Thank you Jan for everything honestly! It seems like we have a lot of quilters ahead of the game this round. Wow. maybe if today is a day off you can devote just a tiny bit of your day to cutting or stitching a bit .. starting is the hardest part for me. indecision. I say make today DECISION day :) its not hard truly enee meenie mineee MO pick a fabric by the..

jaba 09-02-2013 04:31 AM

Table runner is done for partner teappot so I better start sewing on the home decor swap. Got their choices, now to just sew it and have it turn out the right size. Cheesehead you can send me the 20" round one, would fit right on my kitchen table just fine. Don't want it to go to waste or sit in a drawer.....just sayin' :)

Pink Lady 09-02-2013 04:41 AM

Ok Elisabrat I made my decision to spend the day with my horses :) I am halfway on my table runner. Rained yesterday so I worked on boom blocks over halfway done on those. The weatherman is calling for more thundershowers today so may work on my table runner if that happens.

Elisabrat it is so nice to have someone to come quilt with you. Somedays it just helps to get the juices flowing again.

Hope you all have a great day
Kendra

createfourpaws 09-02-2013 05:27 AM

Decision day....oh what decisions do I need to make. First I am going to put everything in the crockpot for patoto soup, then make some banana bread. Onto starting my runner, and working on quilt blocks.

Woke up to thunderstorms this morning. Maybe, maybe it won't be so hot today. For the last week it has been over 100 and as high as 106. Not good when you have a lung condition that makes it harder to breath.
