Nice colours Cogito did you buy them as a charm pack? I love them.

Sapdooggie I will take reservations but this fall may be hard with the work we are doing on the house. So next fall or spring or summer would be best. Lots of time to fundraise but I have to tell you I hate to cook so I hope some else likes to:)When it stops raining I will take some pictures. I live in the middle of nowhere with only a corner store gas station close by that closes at 8 pm. The quilt shop is 50mins. away. The closest city is Halifax also an hour away.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax...l_Municipality
I could always hope in the car when you leave and have my own road trip so save some of the stops at quilt shop for the return trip:))

Oksewnsew 08-23-2013 07:41 AM

Oh a road trip/retreat to Nova Scotia would be soooo great. I'm right on I-35, in Edmond, OK, right on the way. My oh my, what a 'trip' it would be..lol You'd pick me up first then klgls (Kathy) in Ks. We're partners for the tablerunner swap. How fun would that be? ;o)

I haven't started mine yet. Have several patterns picked out and lots of Fall prints, so just need to git up and go to start! Since July 3rd, my mom has had the Shingles! The breakouts are all gone but now she's dealing with pain and absolutely sleeps all the time! I have to really force her to eat & drink. She'll get up, eat a bit then off to bed again. The Dr says it's her age (94) and nothing 'wrong' with her to medicate. It's sure stressful for me tho, don't feel like I can leave the house for any length of time. I haven't been to a sew day since the 3rd of July - there's days when I really fall apart. I know it's hard on her, she's never sick, not even a cold, then this happens and it's just been too much.

Sorry to rant....'today will be better, today will be better'....YEP.. Hope all has a really good sew day today...Gonna try to get to mine today.

Pink Lady 08-23-2013 07:58 AM

Oksewnsew so sorry that your mother has shingles they are not fun. When my neighbour had them it was awful.I think today I am going to clean up my sewing room went in to work on my table runner and walk right back out. How do I make this much mess:( Need to get it cleaned up before hubby gets home and see it:)Yesterday I just closed the door on it. But have people coming over this week end and I know he will say you should see what Kendra's working on now. I love that he like to show people what I am doing but I am a messy worker:( Oh well the price I must paid he did get up his office for me to sew in. Hope you are all having a great day.

mom-6 08-23-2013 08:10 AM

Oh what pretties!

And I want in on that road trip too. Don't remember much about our brief stop in Halifax when I was 9. Main thing I remember about that trip was going to Green Gables on Prince Edward Island and getting one of the "Anne" books. Lol!

Brat - Willie grew up in the little town 10 mi south of my hometown and sang live on our radio station when he was just getting started.

Sure you're in if you can help cook that is good for me. But this is no inn just a house that is way too big now that the kids have left home.

Tam...Moo 08-23-2013 05:20 PM

Love those fabrics cogito......happy dance here!

Elisabrat 08-23-2013 06:13 PM

I like the sneak peaks! understatement I love the sneak peaks all those pretty fall colors and oooohhh scary bats! cute pattern that is ...

I finished two of seven to do quilt projects today! next is a wall hanging for Rhonda then my table runner. I was at the quilt store today and found the most to die for fabric that said.. buy me buy me .. I went with a bit of this a bit of that and 36.00 later I had a very small bag. WHAT IS THAT ABOUT? lol one runner and enough to finish a center medallion for another quilt. sheesh! lol I could spend way more than that but the old budget is way smaller than that. and I needed fabric like a whole in the head. I have fabric... it made me buy it that is the trouble.

jaba 08-23-2013 06:44 PM

I have a lot of that "made me buy it" fabric as you well know, so you're not alone that's for sure. Have just a little bit of binding left to sew and it's done, waiting to hear from teappot when she's ready to mail.

chickadeee55 08-24-2013 03:24 AM

sapdoggie 08-24-2013 01:07 PM

Absolutely LOVE all of the sneak peeks

Regarding the road trip north - Will have to map out route, post stops along way to quilt stores, make sure if you want to hop on the bus, you are packed and at the shop on time :)

You will also need to bring cooking ingredients , cleaning and laundry supplies. We certainly don't want to wear out our welcome.

Pink Lady - I think you may have to build an Inn as well as finish your present remodeling. There may be a gaggle of us coming next fall. You could hire me and Yosamitesa to run it :D. You could have almost year round quilt retreats (say March to October). We would make a schedule and have weeks for everyone to volunteer to run the retreat- coordinate rooms, set up sewing machines, projects, etc. Wonder if your shop up the road would like to supply machines and notions and all. ( Less packing for attendees ).

We would be your new family since all of yours has flown the coop

Now really- where did I put that passport

All who need one- go ahead and apply, then you will be ready in the spring or fall (2014) to ROAD TRIP !!!!

sapdoggie 08-24-2013 01:13 PM

oh Brat - I am also ready to mail. Sneak preview coming later. :)

Oksewnsew 08-24-2013 02:04 PM

Here is a sneak peek at my partner's (klgls) runner. Hope she likes the colors. It's ready for backing..yeaaaa.

Hey, I've always wanted to live up north - I'm a good cook, cleaner, etc.. We could all take turns working the retreat, doncha think? What a ball we'd have.

More pretties showing up!

Been playing in my sewing room again. . . Saw a Dresden Plate table topper somewhere and thought "oh that might be fun". Didn't have a pattern, just started cutting WOF angles. Ended up 41-1/2" across! Thought I should have used Chrustmas fabrics and I would have had a tree skirt. Then suddenly it dawned on me it would be a perfect forest fairy skirt for a little girl! So my friend Kimber brought her girls over and it's going to be a perfect fit for Lily. Now to do a waistband and zipper and hem.
Never know what I'm working on turn into. Lol!

DustysMomma 08-24-2013 07:11 PM

I got the last of my fabrics today. Problem is, I ended up with 2, so I may end up asking for advice here. One is a solid & the other has swirls.

Elisabrat 08-25-2013 03:31 AM

MOM 6 its terrific you can turn one project into another without batting an eye nor tossing it in the bin! A fairy skirt sounds marvelous the thought of a little girl again would make me one happy grandma. I am not great at clothes sewing BUT I have a dear dear friend here who would teach me what I need to know I am sure. All I need is a little one to do it for...

love the fall colors there and wow that thread is saying take me take me!!! are you planning on using it for the quilting or just the sewing of it? I avoid those stripe patterns to the best of my ability. I suck at lining things up! lol brave woman to use that chevron pattern. Have you two spoken? she is very worried about starting on your project Quercus so perhaps you can write each other???

You will not need to bring cleaning and laundry supplies I make my own:) I also have lots of blueberries, currants, apple, eggs and chicken. Maybe even a duck or two.
My husband often talks about a B&B when he retires. Maybe this would change his mind lol I do not think it would. The shop up the road does not have sewing machines but I have a couple old one laying around. Nothing fancy but would do for most things You better run it as I have never been to a retreat.
I am all for expanding my family especially if they quilt. I may have to fly down just so I would get the road trip:) I have my passport.

Here are my fabrics. Of course, I took the picture on my cell phone, in my sewing room, so the quality isn't great. I've decided on the leaves, with black blocks embroidered with fall colors, which I'm going to do this morning. I want to get a little of the orange in, so I may cut narrow strips of it to frame the black blocks & liven it up a little. I decided the black swirls will be the backing fabric, since it's exactly the right size for that & I don't want it to be TOO busy. I'm hoping that the quilters hoop for my machine will be in this week so I can use it on this project!

Okay I pulled more stash fabric that my friend gave me and somewhere in this combo is the fabrics for my second table runner. From what I understand... all these fabrics are at JoAnn's in case you like them.

I haven't got a design sketched out yet but I'm sure once the fabrics start to talk to me, I'm sure to have a pretty good idea what it wants me to do with it.

I have been contact with
justnananettie and waiting to hear back from Nancy In Louisanna. As for the thread question ... they haven't talked to me yet ... and I'm thinking that my varigated thread could match in nicely with either of the fabric combination.

Well my friend is on her over with some more goodies so I'll run for now.

Toodles,
Tricia

It is so relaxing to read all the energy you ladies are revving up! I am going to do plum jam today - picked yesterday. Have some great apples to do applesauce and apple pie filling, but not today.Found 3 lines of fabric I am crazy about - ordered some and am waiting now for my delivery. Have the pattern that I want in my head, just got to get in down on paper and of course it will include a bit of embroidery. Just love embroidery! As for the road trip, the way you girls are driving I wouldn't be "on the way" but no problem I will meet you anywhere to join the fun. To cross the border we may have to leave some necessities to purchase in Canada. But heck that would be fun too! I vote for fall 2014 - but by the time we travel there and stop at every LQS we can find, stay and sew a while, I'm thinking min. a month. What do you think?

sapdoggie 08-25-2013 09:31 AM

Pink Lady - Come on down. We can go on a road trip any time ! There is the Shop Across Texas every September. Imagine how much trouble we could get into - especially picking up a couple of TX quilters. My car will sit four comfortably and has a big trunk !.

If we are bringing the bus- wonder of there is a qulter who drives a bus :) - there would be room for machines and some notions. No need for extra clothes- the comfier the better. Wear one and wash one. Wash a load a day and it can dry while we are sewing.

MartiMorga- How about two months - one going up and one to sew !

Pink Lady - do you think hubby could get that Inn started? He might be happier with the gigging away from the house. Poor guy- does he deal well with silly women and late night raiding of the fridge ?

All of this home canning and storing is making me mighty hungry ! I may just have to get a container garden going next spring. We did do tomatoes and green onions one year. Not much, but it was yummy !

sapdoggies - love those fabrics!!

Quercus Ruba - gorgeous!!

OK - Oksewnsew - Spoiler Alert- here's a tease - very upclose so you can't see the pattern. No orange (just a bit of gold) for you! :p

Pink Lady 08-25-2013 12:34 PM

Quercus Ruba very nice fabrics

Sapdoggie love that bottom row The first one I may just sneak down in the middle of the night and grab it. I have the last one but hey where is it I forgot I had it. Oh that is not good must get my act together.

I love all these sneak peaks.

I have not told hubby that I invited a pack of quilters over what he does not know will not hurt him:D
He will not care he likes to meet new people and as long as there is something to eat when he gets home he is good. He deals with one silly woman all the time what is a few more.

Tomorrow I am going to get start on my table runner or well at least get my room clean up so I can see the table.

AliciaH 08-25-2013 02:38 PM

Tlambing - I'm diggin' that jack o'lantern!

Haven't done much on mine yet, got diagnosed with a severe case of vertigo this week. Hoping it goes away soon....

mom-6 08-25-2013 02:58 PM

Almost done with mine. Just the rest of the last long side of the binding to hand stitch. And maybe a wee bit of hand quilting on the center. Seems like it needs something there.
