Tesspug you have it down. Is that our sneak peek? :D] He is dancing a lil jig.

Patchesnposies 01-31-2015 07:42 AM

Okay. Stupid question. How is a mini quilt different than a mug rug? Is there an album of a completed swap? I am considering joining, but not sure I am competent enough!

Our minis range from 6-18 inches. Most are ending up 10-12 ish. Most everyone includes a hanging sleeve, but it's not required. You can applique, piece, thread paint, do whole cloth...any technique you choose. You can take a peek at last months swap to see what was made then. IMHO, if you can make a quilt block, sandwich, quilt and bind it. You have all the ability you need to join this swap. The fun part is creating!

Patchesnposies 01-31-2015 08:46 AM

I'm afraid I'd be way out of my league with you all here. These mini-quilts are wonderful! Everyone of them a work of art! Maybe someday when I am bit more confident. Have fun ladies!

I think you could do this! I had the same questions. Still sort of do. I'm don't see the difference in a "miniature" and a "wall hanging". At least in their piece size, maybe miniature quilts have miniature pieces and wall hangings are just small quilts/less normal size pieces-blocks?

Anyway, like tlambing said, if you can cut, sew, sandwich and bind, join! I'm hoping to practice and learn new skills while I make mine. My goal is to fill my sewing room/office wall with them this year!

(If you made your avatar, you certainly could join.)

klaws 01-31-2015 09:37 AM

Patches, please come and join in. We have a lot of fun and it is for all skill levels.

Whigrose 01-31-2015 09:38 AM

Quilting gf, you are way competent enough.

'Nuf said.'

We are our own worst critics! (yes, even me!) So glad you all have joined and are so encouraging to one another :)
It warms my heart <3

To try and explain the difference between a mini and a wallhanging. Hmmmm, not much difference. We are just trying to keep them small. The idea was small or even smaller. But, that's just a suggestion. By looking at the minis sent over these many months about 12 " is about the average. 6-18 is the guideline, but larger is up to you and your partner.

I just love seeing everyones creativity at work and how different and at the same time similar we are. We have such a great group.

Names out tomorrow!!!!

marilyn43 01-31-2015 07:31 PM

Tracy I'm new to this swap too. It does look like so much fun. I'll be right there with you making a mini quilt the first time. Good luck to you.

marilyn43 01-31-2015 07:33 PM

oh this is so cute.

marilyn43 01-31-2015 07:39 PM

Deb, this is my first time also and I was questioning if I could do one. The one thing we have here is very kind, compassionate and helpful ladies. Someone here will help us through it if we have a problem so you go ahead and join and lets have lots of fun. See you on the board.:)

SheriR 01-31-2015 08:28 PM

Ooooo I'm sooooo excited!!! I have some ideas for what I want to do. Can't wait to confer with my partner! :D

I am so excited! Pm-ing my partner now!

Patchesnposies 02-01-2015 04:29 PM

Debbyg, I looked at your profile and see that you have only posted 4 times to the board! Come out and let us get to know you! I looked through all 7 pages to find the post where you joined in and didn't find any. Did I miss it? Or, perhaps you simply PM'd Tlambing.

At any rate, this is SO much fun when we all join in and chatter away! Come play with us!!!!

Deb

tlambing 02-01-2015 05:39 PM

debbyg has pm'd me several times, so I know she's around :)

marilyn43 02-01-2015 07:28 PM

Well it's official I'm going to join everyone here and try the mini quilt. I'm really excited to do this. I need to venture out and do something else a little more challenging. The worst part for me is we live in a small town of 1,100 people so no quilting stores. I usually go to Sioux City, Iowa which is about 50 mi. from here but hey an excuse to go fabric shopping. I know all will have fun with this. Thanks for excepting request to join. :o

Glad that you joined us Marilyn! I love small town life. Especially now that the internet has made the world a lot "closer."

JuneBillie 02-01-2015 08:20 PM

Oops just seen this. I have got to get up with my partner. :)

tlambing 02-02-2015 11:17 AM

My partner and I have been in contact! It's fun getting to know new friends :)
I know exactly what I am going to do, just have to finagle a little math (lord help me) to decrease the size. No piggy's for my mini, BUT LOTS OF GREEN!!! and a little GOLD too!

Is everyone getting in contact??

Teresa

klaws 02-02-2015 11:44 AM

How can I contact my partner? This is my first time in this swap, and I guess I am not catching on to what I should do. I see the name, but who is it? How do I contact her?

Plover, just go to your private messages, click on send new message, and write her board name in the TO spot, just as Teresa put it down on the list, and send her a note.

Does that help? Or, clear as mud? If you find a post by Krisb you can left click on her board name and a little window will come up, you can click on Private Message and do it that way.

PnP

tlambing 02-03-2015 07:41 AM

Thanks so much for helping PP! This board can be quite confusing...but once you get the hang of it, it's so much fun!
ive pm'd you Plover, as well as your partner. Hopefully the 2 of you will be in contact soon.

tesspug 02-03-2015 08:51 AM

SheriR and I have made contact. Off to my stash. Had to get up before the dawn this morning to take DH in for a kidney stone removable. The little dog got up, went outside, did her thing and flew back into the bed under the blankets. She was still there when I got back.

JuanitaBean 02-03-2015 09:05 AM

MizMelly and I are ready to start are mini. Let the fun begain

Fiestypixy 02-03-2015 09:31 AM

Hi all,
Here is a sneak peek of the mini I am working on for JuneBillie. Her preference is the theme colors rather than symbols. She also stated she loves the green colors of her area in spring and summer.

The background is a soft butter yellow, although you cannot tell that from the photo. I have finished the piecing and now trying to decide the next step/s.

Enjoy.

Best,
deb in Maine

tlambing 02-04-2015 07:29 AM

Love the sneak peek. Can't wait to see your "colorway" mini. Just love the concept! And it's multi use/season that way!
My mini is still in the planning stages :(
