I received Ruth's row yesterday...I hope to get some work done on it this weekend, but I have lots of things going on right now.

Elizabeth A. 04-18-2009 12:39 PM

Here's my row all done for April. This is Margie's top. Her theme is General Christmas.

I just need to take care of the label and then it will be off to mrsj82.

sewjoyce 04-18-2009 02:29 PM

That's really beautiful Elizabeth!

Elizabeth A. 04-18-2009 03:16 PM

Thanks joyce, it really is a testament to the skills of everyone who worked on it. In person ~ it's divine! Fancy 3D blocks, tiny trees, Margie's embroidery, Oh MY!

mrsj82 04-19-2009 11:07 AM

I just needed to pop my head in and let everyone know my status. I'm going out of town for the rest of April. My grandmother was just diagnosed with Lukemia, and we're taking a road trip out to Utah to visit her and family. We're staying for about a week. I'm going to try and take my current row with me and do some work on it while we're there (mom has a sewing machine)...but it might be sent out late.

I want to continue with this, it just might end up being mailed late...I'm sorry for everyone if it is, I just feel it's more important to be with grandma while she still has some time left. Thanks for understanding.

MsSage 04-19-2009 11:19 AM

sending prayers for yall and your grandma. You will never regret being with her. That is time you will never get back. Enjoy and I am sure noone will mind the row being late.

mrsj82 04-19-2009 11:42 AM

Thanks I appreciate the support. I'm feeling bad about the row not going out in time, but I'll try my best.

Knot Sew 04-19-2009 02:35 PM

Hmmm, I haven't seen mine since row 2......I am mailing one to sue tomorrow and then working on the last row of Sues' then it goes home. I will mail it as soon as I am done :D :D :D

Elizabeth A. 04-19-2009 02:45 PM

Wow Ruth you've been really moving along! Good for you. :D Mona recieved your quilt just the other day. :)

mrsj take care of your Grandma.

Margie 04-19-2009 07:28 PM

Margie :)

I'm new... what's a row robin?
Cathy

Elizabeth A. 04-20-2009 05:54 AM

I'm glad you like it Margie. The tiny things surrounded in blue are different sized packages with a little bit of hand embroidery for the bows, and the center is the angel I mentioned putting in, her dress exactly matched the pink from your first row, so I felt like she belonged there, and she is holding a small blue package. If you'll think you'd like something different you can just let me know, I'll have it a little while longer.

Elizabeth A. 04-20-2009 05:58 AM

Cathy if you go back through this post using the back buttons you can see all the different Rows we've added. Instead of a "Round Robin" where each member adds borders "around", this is a row robin where we each add a row to the one before us. Usually both kinds have 6 or so people in a group, but with a row robin you only have to tie back into one measurement, versus with a Round Robin you have to match up all the way around.

No changes needed, (from what I can see) everything is perfect....couldnt tell what center square is, but I know it is beautiful. Hope I can do as good a job on your quilt.

Margie

your quilt is very quiet...refuses to talk..but I have my ways of making it speak lol

JANW 04-20-2009 06:24 AM

Elizabeth,
How can you update the mailing date on this post? Or would it be better to do a new post?

Margie 04-20-2009 06:28 AM

WELCOME CATHY,

I sent you a private message explaining this row robin...the thread is a little long to go through and figure it out...but the pictures are sure worth the time it takes.

I too am a retired RN, also with arthritis in hands....maybe all the hand washing lol.

you will love this board,,,everyone very friendly and helpful. I have just taken quilting up the last few years and am learning a lot.

Margie :)

Margie 04-22-2009 05:59 PM

I have had a really bad 24 hours....I suffered a severe dog bite to my right arm and on way home from the hospital was in a car accident. I am doing ok...HOWEVER, I am not able to work on my row robin...so I am afraid..well, I am almost certain I will not make the deadline. I apologize for this..but sometimes things happen.

Margie

OH Margie! I hope you take care! {{{{HUGS }}}} What a day you had!

I'm running late too! The one I have took the long route to get here and now I need to go buy something to match. I don't have anything in my stash that will go. I am going to town tomorrow so will try to fit a trip to get fabric into the schedule.
I'm going to try to be close to "on time" but I don't want to do a rush job either.

purplemem 04-23-2009 09:09 AM

I'm coming along on my Row, just finished purchasing some fabric that is utterly cute for the snowman theme. I'm having a problem with the 14" blocks, so I made 12 inch and will add borders. Will be out on time, I think. This move has made everything topsy turvy. I just now uncovered my sewing machine, and I really miss it and you all.

LoriJ 04-23-2009 09:26 AM

I've got four of the six blocks completed. Here's hoping I can get to the rest soon. With the weather turning nice, DH needs help setting up his greenhouse, so time is running away with me.... *sigh* why does work have to get in the way of the fun stuff!? LOL

Margie 04-23-2009 09:58 AM

Thanks two Doods I appreciate the hugs...I need them right now.

Margie I hope you feel better soon. Goodness that was top award for "Bad Day"

I just got the snowman row today....ricken racken fricken fracken mailman woke me up. Good GAWD dont he know I had only been asleep 2 hours :x
Then Johovia witness came 30 mins later, then the phone rang 3 times in an hour half then Landlord comes an hour later ..........Not meant for me to sleep today. I do have to say the JW here are ALOT more polite then in NC. As soon as they saw me they were so sorry they woke me and they will not come by again so early ever again....I dont agree with what they believe but I do give them credit for spreading the word and trying to gain followers.

The row is awesome now to think about what to add. I have all these plans and somehow they are MY plan NOT the quilts.....oh well I have some cute snowmen fabric just have to think how to use it. Maybe get it out and let it talk to me??????

Thank you...just hope arm gets stronger and less painful so I can sew. Good luck with you row...since I cant sew, maybe I can sit and look at mine and plead with it to come up with ideas so hopefully next week (with luck) I will get it done quickly

I'm afraid I will be a little late with this row also, but I will get it out ASAP

As for the insurance the $100 min. should do it. Nothing is going out of the country for this Robin so we'll be fine there. Sound fine to everyone?

Just reread this post and from past experience, I found it very difficult to prove value for payment by the USPS or UPS. Do you have any tips on this? Knock on wood none have been lost so far. I think posting each row helps to have a photo trail, but I don't see everyone posting photos.

Here is Sues. I have added the last row and its going home

Elizabeth A. 04-25-2009 04:01 PM

Wow Ruth! That's Wonderful! I'm so glad to see it! :D

I'm sorry some of you are having trouble. Hopefully you Margie, are feeling better and recovering without any complications from the dog bite. Please everyone try to have your rows completed by the end of the month, there is still nearly a full week left.

Jan here's the math for proving the value of a lost row.

Fabric $20 (depending on where you bought it the fabric can be way more, I understand that)
Each completed row has 12 hours worth of work in it (at the min. for most rows) 12 hours at $6.55 (federal min. wage some states are higher) is $78.60 in labor per row
A top lost now has a remake cost of at least $350.

Anyone that runs into trouble with a lost row should contact me right away and I will provide hard numbers, and anything else you need.
