Mona, seperator rows of whatever blocks you like are perfectly fine and add interest. Each row doesn't have to be candy :) When I was thinking of this, I had thought of small brown squares bordered by tiny sashing to look like chocolate squares in a box. Or sugar cookie "yoyos". Hope that helps :) I'll be sending a label this weekend also.

So this is the start of my row. It's the first thing I ever designed in my new EQ5! I'm so excited. These are only the first four blocks (Two of each). It's going to spell out PEACE with a heart on each end when it's done.

Elizabeth A. 01-19-2009 06:26 PM

Wow that turned out nice, I love that "E" did you pick the "font typeface" with the EQ?

mrsj82 01-19-2009 06:27 PM

haha, I picked the first alphabet thing that I saw and went with it. It is supposed to have a little lifty do thing at the bottom part of the E but I was trying to match seams and ended up ripping it a little...ooops! So I re-vamped it to look like this...

Elizabeth A. 01-19-2009 06:30 PM

:D All the better for it. :D

Knot Sew 01-20-2009 05:17 AM

I have a question? Can I use sashing and a plain strip for between the rows? this would alter the size but would help if the squares ect don't come out a perfect 12and a half

Elizabeth A. 01-20-2009 05:19 AM

Yes Ruth you can. Just include a strip for each person in your package.

sandpat 01-20-2009 05:19 AM

OH...they are looking sooo good!! Keep them coming ladies...!!

Hot off the sewing machine! I'm going to be mailing this to LoriJ tomorrow. *pats self on back* I can't believe I did something this detailed! LOL

bj 01-20-2009 03:17 PM

Looks great Mrsj. I think the row robins are coming along swimmingly. What a fun idea!

Elizabeth A. 01-20-2009 04:50 PM

GREAT job Mrsj! :D I'm a little excited - my row goes to you next, aren't I a lucky one?! :P It's sitting right here next to me, and I'll be putting it in the mail to you tomorrow.

sandpat 01-20-2009 04:53 PM

WHeeee!!!! Aren't we on a roll now!!! The PEACE row looks just great! Congrats on your 1st EQ block and row...soon it will be a quilt!

mrsj82 01-20-2009 04:59 PM

I'm getting so excited to get everyone's rows! This is proving to be quite a challenge, but really fun! WHEE!!!

PS. as a side note, for all my quiling folks out there can we stick to this theme/colors for my quilt...? I don't know what it was written down, but these are the colors of my bedroom and I'd kinda like to stick to that if at all possible! :-)

purplemem 01-20-2009 05:13 PM

Mrs J82,
That is really beautiful. And I love the subject. I better get busy on my last block.

Margie 01-20-2009 06:59 PM

Everyone's rows are soooo nice. Personally, I think I just want to throw up...I dont have anything done. I keep buying fabric and looking at blocks, but no inspiration. I already received a row last week...I have a few ideas for it, nothing for mine. OMG ...just feel sick sick sick.

SIGH Margie

mrsj82 01-20-2009 07:27 PM

You'll think of something margie! I was feeling the same way and just started browsing blocks and decided to do something I'd never done before, and the idea took off from there! You'll think of something!

What is an EQ5? Do I need one....maybe that would help???

Margie

mrsj82 01-20-2009 09:19 PM

EQ5 is Electric Quilt 5.

EDITED BY S.D. ( PSST!! YOU CAN PURCHASE THE PROGRAM AT YOUR LOCAL QUILT SHOP! )

It's a computerized quilting program that lets you design your own blocks and patterns. It has over 1000 blocks and tons of options. I get sucked into it for more than an hour each time I open it, so beware, it's addicting! :-)

sandpat 01-21-2009 04:55 AM

Margie....EQ is a great program for designing and it has a nice block library..but nothing in the library really that you can't find on quilterscache.com.....You know...you can choose to use all Christmas fabric with a very simple block...you could choose a Christmas applique theme and use any old fabric...You could go with just winter colors and any block you like...maybe pick a room in your home that you'd like to use the quilt for the holidays. Pick a fabric that goes well in there and start from there....it will come to you....sometimes it just takes a little while for the idea to come to perfection in your head!!

I was just going to ask you that. I'll have to see what I've got that matches. Oh boy, can't wait to see it in person!!

Elizabeth A. 01-21-2009 07:45 AM

mrsj82 - I put on that you would like some forest green. I'm sure all the rows that follow will match yours. No one will be screaming to add a crazy color. :) Want to post a photo of your bedroom so we can be sure to match it? :) LOL! I'm in your group, and I get yours last. I so have no trouble working with the pretty green and blues you used in your row. :D

EQ5 is a bit expensive. A $100 or more. I read raves about it all the time. They also have EQ6 now as well, which is the newer version.

Margie I agree with Sandpat try to stick with something easy, with great fabric it will look amazing.

mrsj82 01-21-2009 08:01 AM

Awesome! It doesn't have to be the same colors, just something in that same general area. If that's already on there, then cool! It's going out in the mail today!

Hope this is clear it was gloomy today, and I had to delete my photo program...any way here it is. I am going to cut strips for between the rows....now to make a label I think i used 13 different fabric

LoriJ 01-21-2009 11:50 AM

oohhh Ruth, I love it! so cheery

sandpat 01-21-2009 01:53 PM

Beautiful Ruth!!! The lucky person next in line gets to pick from lots of fabrics!! Great job!

mrsj82 01-21-2009 02:35 PM

That is beautiful!

Elizabeth A. 01-21-2009 03:43 PM

Ruth good for you! Let me know when you pop it in the mail. :D

mrsj82 01-21-2009 04:01 PM
