Better hide your scraps on that one, Marybeth is making a quilt for her grand daughter out of that fabric and she will sneak up on you and snag them I am positive! The sewing machine looks like a monster to learn all those buttons and computer stuff. argh I am so not into electronics and really fought getting a computerized machine also. I have the basic of basic ones and it still scares me. :) I wouldn't even turn on the air conditioner yesterday didn't want to break it. I haven't asked how to use it yet never needed to. Guess that is a good thing to learn.

Today I am finishing the blocks to go around my round robin. This is where the brat screwed up big time. I measured the fabric and cut based on the total depth the block is to be 6.5 inches all good. see I had added a 3/4 inch border first t break up that crazy design (crazy cause I could not figure what to do hence why its crazy.) now all is good it will measure up perfectly. except I did not think key word there about the fact that the new blocks at 5.75 ARE not going to fit around. they needed to be 6.5 also to make it all across the top. so now.. there is a 2.5 inch gap at the end of each row. I have to magically finish out the row to look like I meant that to happen. a little strip on the ends? ugh. all those 4st's too.. lots and lots of them.. finished ready to use. its a harlequin diamond pattern that goes all around well it should have gone all around. What a dumb bunny. math is not my thing obviously. what a surprise right?

The fabric at the top, without butterflies, is home decor canvas-like fabric. It's one of those that comes on a long roll. I got about 5-6 yards for $15 on the online yard sale group that I help admin on Facebook. The lady just wanted it out of her house, since she'd bought it & then her daughter decided she wanted to do something completely different colorwise in her room. When I was looking to figure out what it was, I noted it's a discontinued pattern that the last place I could find where it had even been for sale it was on clearance for $15/yard, but they were out of it too. The butterfly fabric, there isn't much in the way of scraps, but I do have several yards of all 4 colors they make it in. I cut out exactly what I needed in 1 panel for this & it's the first project I've used it for. I have some tan canvas that I'd gotten in a lot I bought a while back, which I used for the parts you can't see to give it some oomph on the pockets so they won't droop too bad. Of course, that made it thick to sew, and I wasn't going to even attempt to top stitch it once I turned it. I figured asking the new machine to go through 8 layers was asking enough of it without going for 16 with all that heavy fabric.

As for the machine, it looks worse than it is. The 2 rows at the bottom are just to tell it what kind of fabric you're using. Between that and the stitch you pick, it comes up on the screen and tells you which foot to use and what size needle. The buttons just below the screen change the stitch width and length, and those below it are where you put in the stitch number. The ones to the right of that are where you go into the stitch selector, tell it to mirror the stitch or rotate it, and there's a button to go into service mode. The buttons to the right of the screen are direction buttons for picking stitches & monogram letters if you use a lettering stitch, and the functions for the embroidery to tell it about changing threads and such. One of the things I love, which my mother got a big laugh out of, is that I can sew fast without the machine having to be held down to keep it from jumping or moving around. She said if I was sewing that fast I needed it in a cabinet to hold it down. :D

Hello Hello groupies! I am so happy to say this is going to be a great day. I have decided it so shall it be :)

I spoke with Patrice about making aprons she is fine with it as long as part of it is quilted say a panel on the top part or the pockets.. so its not just sewing. Just saying in case anyone wants to make aprons ever specifically for me lol.. I am good with it. Huge front long pocket.. lol but a tree skirt man I need a tree skirt. ok probably not this year sigh no room for a tree. I will decorate the one in the front yard and put a garland on my center beam... I am thinking its not too early to start an ornament swap either.. hinto hinto pinto beans! my runners are going rampant with over 29 swappers so if you haven't signed up get your tail over and lets get the party going even bigger. wait I think your all in but Nancia. She is hiding from me. Afraid I will steal her burrito boys.

So how do you feel about a chicken tree skirt? :D I have a round runner in my book that I could leave the center out of for you, lol.

I'm thinking if it was a apron and quilted potholder set, that covers the quilted part too. No?

Washed up my patriotic fabric last night. Wonder what Brat that's for, lol? I've got to finish the tissue holder first. Debating between taking the extra steps to line it or not. I have the fabric, but it's going to be a challenge to get everything to lay right if it do it that way. I guess I can get it to the point where I have to either drop in the liner or hem the edges & the decide. Since I'm not using a pattern, I'm keeping a cuts list in case I have to make more of them. I've been told since this is going to a friend's MIL who's in a nursing home, that I just may have a whole list of orders from it after it arrives.

I am not hiding, I'm on sabbatical, lol

Do what? You're fanatical?

Yeah, too much puter time today. Time to go sew a bit before I have to get ready to go to a wedding reception. The couple got married in Napal last year. He went to visit his family there, and she was going to stop in to meet them on her way to whatever she going to Indonesia for. He gets there and has to call her while she's sitting waiting for her flight in Dallas to tell her he doesn't blame her if she doesn't get on the plane, but his family has set everything up for their wedding to occur the day after she arrives, and that everyone his family knows has been notified and invited to attend. She graduated from another university downstate from us in May, and he just walked with his PhD yesterday, so they're having their wedding reception here before they leave. If a man ever did that to me, don't know what in the world I'd do, but there would definitely have to be some boundaries set!

I think when your in love.. well nothing rational about it. Much easier to love someone I think than to 'be in love' way too much work! (wonderful partner I must be right?)..

Nancia is fanatical because she spends all day gumming up her Burrito boy calendar that we fought over. She seems to think that every month is HER month. greedy wench! I think she is vacationing in sunny toasty HOT Texas with the kids. hope they have a pool. with jumbo margaritas for her to enjoy while she gets the burn of her lifetime. makes it less painful.

I finished the center to the round robin I am in with Jan, dragonflynana, Kelly and Nexxus and her mom. (phew got them all in!). I am excited. I was so stumped on that one. I wish I could post pics but right now its being a booger so I made an album to show the finished round I put on Jans and my bear one for the hummingbird swap that I did. Jan has finished the round on that one also super cute with pinecones and a tree on the end. she posted in the swap. guess her posting went better than mine :(

I think aprons and quilted pot holders is cool. who the heck cant use those besides Jan who has 100 already made? she is amazing that woman. me not so much lol. Aprons I adore. if you don't want an apron say you could pick one apron 1 pot holder or four mats or something such like that.. just an idea... or tree skirts still all for tree skirts lol
