Some of our people have mentioned having trouble with the bindings and corners on small mug rugs. Here is a nice way to get a good finish without using a binding (cheater binding).

I'd like to share with you the awesome mug rug and extra goodies I received from ctyankee. The sweet mug rug took me back 30 summers when we were pregnant with our second daughter; I was so sick all summer and the only thing I could keep down (seriously) was watermelon.

I adore the mug rug, ctyankee, as well as the stiletto, thread catcher and um, yea, the package of M & M's you included but didn't make it to the photo. :o I was good at sharing them though, that counts for something, right? And your note made me chuckle about the first mug rug you made. Doesn't every girl need more than one pair of 'shoes'?

When I was pregnant with my son many years ago now, I craved watermelon and chicken, but when I would get it, it tasted terrible to me. My imagination was so different than when I got it. lol...

Just go on pinterest and type in mug rugs and if you have a slight idea pick a theme and you will find hundreds of ideas right there for you! then you hit your fabric stack and stack cutting! look at the simpliest and cutest mug rugs so far this month? there are crazy difficult ones don't get me wrong but also simple ones. or do one that has just the colors or fabrics of the theme and do a traditional block only smaller. say a 9.5 inch block or so! you can do it! lol duh.

Love that watermelon! how great is that a day at the beach with .. snacks! I think of going to the beach and as a kid and mom pulling out the chips to go with our lunch and all I can remember is the extra grit and crunch to the food. I hated it. lol. duh wiping my hands off would have been much less gritty I know. How come no one ever mentioned that to me? noooo learned the hard way! to this day cant eat on the beach. put me over at a table or on the tailgate and its fine but not in the middle of the sand. What a dork.

I will be working on my projects this week since it WAAAAAAAAAAY too hot for a pasty gal like me outside. So far I finished my block for the block swap (hope she likes it as it my take on the log cabin) I just need to bind a quilt for a soon to arrive new baby, my Great Nephew Everett Kai AND finished a quilt top for a niece who just graduated college. I may even try to free motion quilt it on my machine(now that I see that in print, I may not :eek: )
Just 2 projects left to work on, complete & send out to my sweet partners.

Will be working on mine this weekend just got back from vacation to Punta Cana.

Oh, oh, oh.... just look what my partner Whigrose made for me! A gorgeous summery mug rug, featuring a paper pieced ice cream cone. So cool! Beautiful paper piecing work. I just love the red gingham and especially the fabric she bound it with.

And she sent a non-skid foot pedal mat too. How wonderful is that? Won't have to chase that thing around with my foot anymore! Deb also sent a beautiful batik fat quarter... to inspire me. I love everything, Deb! You did such a great job. Now I want to go out for ice cream!
