I was planning on leaving it up to the swapper with minimal instruction/restriction. Will explain more when I post on the 20th.

These are the blocks that I am working on to send for Dec swap.

I just got to ask why are there two Disappearing 4 Patch sites?

LOL - - - I didn't include the month in the intro line of the thread. My mistake! (learning curve) - - - I assure you, the next posting will have the MONTH so it will be clear. November is the 30's theme and December is black/white/brights theme. Now you know!!

The only thing I can see in the blocks you posted is in the 2nd one, you used a flowery print instead of a solidy-looking fabric. Otherwise, they look good to me. Love your black & white's and white & blacks!

Jane

MaryMo 12-03-2013 07:10 PM

fabulous orange and yellow/black and white block there wannabquilter! I like that color combination.

wanabquilter 12-03-2013 07:48 PM

Thank You, MaryMo.

jclinganrey 12-05-2013 08:42 AM

Update:

Creatfourpaws – 6 sets
Deenatoo - ??
Dragonflynana – 4 sets
groovy pieces – 4
jaba
lauriejo
Letsquilt - 2 sets
MaryMo 4-6 sets
mom-6 - ?
Muse&Sew - ?
Nelco – 6 sets
nurse bonnie – 6 sets
Pattia - 4? sets
Stitch124 – 2 sets
Wannabquilter – 4 sets

I think it's correct. If not, please let me know.

As for the vote for next months' theme, the Batiks have a commanding lead. If you want one of the other choices, speak up!! Your vote counts! LOL

Jane

jaba 12-05-2013 09:07 AM

Jane I'm in for 6 sets if you want to keep a tally

Thanks! Yes I am.

Jane

jclinganrey 12-05-2013 10:26 AM

Since Batiks seem to be the overwhelming choice, here is the second part of the vote. Please vote for:

* 2 different colors per block
* 1 batik paired with solid black
* 1 batik paired with solid white

Thanks!

Jane

Dragonfly Nana 12-05-2013 02:51 PM

Ooh - jclinganrey you are making it a tough choice.....I will vote for 1 batik with black

but I do like the 2 different choice also.

Thanks for your vote(s). So far, 1 batik with solid black is the front runner. We'll see. . . .

Jane

nurse bonnie 12-05-2013 09:18 PM

One batik with black sounds good.

Muse&Sew 12-05-2013 09:40 PM

One batik with black for me too.

givio 12-06-2013 09:16 AM

If anyone is interested... batiks 30% off now at [http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/bati...tialPage=true]

MaryMo 12-06-2013 10:44 AM

I initially thought 2 batiks with black but after auditioning some batiks I am in favor of 1 batik with black. Thanks Jane for giving us input in this decision.

I would suggest black with batiks as it tends to make the colors really pop

I agree! Black with batiks could really be pretty! OOOhhhh black with red or pink batiks for Valentine's day colors. hhmmmmm

dottie dodge 12-06-2013 01:20 PM

I have been watching this thread, debating with myself if I should join in the fun. These blocks will make great quilts! Found a link I thought I would share for more inspiration. Check it out www.northwestquilters.org/bom.html

mom-6 12-06-2013 07:25 PM

Dottie dodge - thanks for the link. Lots of pretties there!

jclinganrey 12-07-2013 09:36 AM

Booklady and Dottie Dodge - - we would love to have you come play with us. The December black/white/brights is still open! I'll post the January swap 12/20 and it's going to be BATIKS!! Lots of excitement about that one.

Great link, by the way. It's good to know 'like minds think alike'. LOL I have some very similar plans for February.

Jane

createfourpaws 12-07-2013 09:53 AM

Awesome for the batiks.....one question....solid black or a black batik?

jaba 12-07-2013 10:52 AM

Cindy somewhere it was said Kona or Moda solid black

Muse&Sew 12-07-2013 10:56 AM

Do we get back one of our own blocks? Or should we make an extra one for us to keep?

jaba 12-07-2013 10:57 AM

Make an extra for yourself. I'd already asked this question too:thumbup:

Muse&Sew 12-07-2013 11:35 AM

I'm such a visual person, so since I've never made this particular block before I looked at wannaquilter's & jaba's beautiful blocks to see if I switched them correctly. The placement on their blocks is not the same, so which is right? Or does it even matter? Thanks for setting me straight!

I think they are the same. They are just laying a different way. Give one of the blocks a quarter turn and the placemnet is the same.

Dec. swap Brights fabric question

2 Attachment(s)
Ok -- I have a question about the 'brights' for the December swap. I was thinking the brights are really bright and not pastels or prints (except very small prints.)

Attached are the choices I'm using... no pastels or large prints on the bright fabrics. Are these good?

Please clarify?

jclinganrey 12-07-2013 04:55 PM

Yes, brights, not pastels. I'll leave it to the group to decide about the small prints.

Jane

givio 12-07-2013 05:20 PM

Stitch124, I think your brights read as solids-- which seemed to be the goal. They look similar to the example Jane posted at the beginning of this thread (post #2) and would blend well there with those blocks. Maybe not your red fabric so much as the others. I like your black on white choices and the 2 white on black choices that are on the bottom of the stack! Your blocks are going to look great! :-)

Dragonfly Nana 12-07-2013 05:37 PM

I agree with givio - those are wonderful colors

jaba 12-07-2013 05:45 PM

Maybe I need to change some of mine also to more bright. Let me know I can make some more blocks. I'm just a "matchy" person. I went from light to dark. Tell me which ones to change ladies.

Muse&Sew 12-07-2013 06:23 PM

I like your light to dark blocks Jaba!

Dragonfly Nana 12-07-2013 07:09 PM

Jaba, I like yours just the way they are.

jaba 12-07-2013 08:01 PM

Thank you ladies, but rules are rules and I really didn't even think brights to brights. Like I say I am a "matchy" type person and quilter and etc.... Jane please tell me if these need to be changed, I can do that.

Dragonfly Nana 12-08-2013 05:41 AM

I know what you mean Jaba. I am like that myself and sometimes it is a pain in the butt when you "just have to" change or re-do things. :D

Solid black please. Kona and Moda Bella are examples of course.
