Today I am wrapping all of the goodies, for my Secret Santee, so I can get her package in the mail before the deadline. This is so much fun & I look forward to this exchange each & every year. FUN - FUN!!
:D :D :D :D

sewbizgirl 10-30-2014 01:07 PM

What an awesome Halloween cake, PenniF. You must be a really fun grandmother.

From the comments I'm wondering if most of us got partnered with someone in our own state???

There have been at least 4 people commenting and asking if they can join this swap, but the deadline has passed. I suggest anyone who missed the deadline, contact the others and see if you can just swap with another latecomer. Why not? Pair yourselves up... You'll have to hurry up, tho.

Flirty Sugar Socks reporting for duty.

If my SS is who I think it is, she was recently mean to poor little me. She should be barred from the hole for at least a day.

Tell me who was mean to you and we'll go raid her fabric stash! That'll teach her!

(edited) Oops! Did I type that out loud?!? I meant we'll go INSPECT her fabric stash . . . for . . . ummmmmm . . . rodents! Yeah, that's it! We'll just make sure her fabric is all nice and safe . . . and we'll just make sure it stays safe!

Tootsie Pointy Toes here.

spanky sugar bells. mailman hasnt brought anything interesting lately other than a fingerhut catalogue for son's girlfriend. maybe i will ask her if I can look through iand pretend to is the Sears &Roebuck or the Montgomery Wards of my childhood. Course we loqked through them all year round as we recycled them to have for reading ( and sanitary)pleasure in the outdoor biffy.

PenniF 10-30-2014 04:47 PM

Roseirish - your post made me think of something.....wondering if anyone would like to "play" a kind of "remember when"....that is .... something that "used to be" and maybe isn't so much any more. The mention of catalogs made me think of making Christmas trees out of the Readers Digest. You folded each page twice - and when you had done every page it was in a shape like a Christmas tree. You glued the back and front pages together and it made a round tree. Then you painted it and decorated it with anything you had - buttons, painted macaroni. :p...

I tried this with my DGD a few years back - and because RD had gone to very thin paper, it only made half a tree... But we still had fun...we just had to do 2 magazines and glue them together.

Anyway...would sure love to hear your stories about special things you did growing up.

Thanks Dedemac that is really cute. Will have fun with my grandchildren with this list.

Good idea Sewbizgirl. I missed last year and I was really bummed. I now know to start looking for sign-ups in Sept. Don't want to miss another one. The hole is too much fun.

:) Yay! Then I'll be Precious SmartyPants!

I'll definitely not be stingy with the Shiner! Y'all are welcome to it, as I prefer a nice white wine, to go along with my dark chocolate. Mmmmmmmmmmm! Actually, I'm kinda wanting some buttermilk biscuits, with cheddar melted on them. It's kinda late to be making biscuits . . . so maybe I'll settle for some toast.

sewingsuz 10-30-2014 07:23 PM

I am very ready to take part in this secret Santa. I will be watching for the beginning.

sewbizgirl 10-30-2014 08:02 PM

Jolly Sparklepants, here...

My box has been sitting and waiting for a decent time to mail it. I've already opened it up once to put more in. I guess I will go ahead and mail it before I keep doing that. So... SOMEONE is about to get a box! A box from Jolly Sparklepants.

VickiM 10-30-2014 08:14 PM

Box is on the way for someone from me...Perky Sugarbells! That list is so cute!!!:)

juneayerza 10-30-2014 08:22 PM

Neesie, there is no doubt in my mind that you are Precious SmartyPants!

Flirty-Peppermint Buns I'm just about ready to send my Package out

sunrise450 10-31-2014 05:38 AM

Finished two hot pads/trivets/pot holders or what ever else you want to call them. Now to finish another project for my santee, a small one but one I think she will like. Just guessing, I still haven't seen her on the board. I'm really hoping that everything is okay.
Anyway,I have a question. I was looking for a pattern for one of those 10 min. table runners and came across a real nice looking runner, its called 10 minute table runner 2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IKnJa9U66I Hope that will get you there. I think it looks really nice but I have never made a table runner without batting. I would like to know what others think of it.
Cheerful Sparkle Pants

Nessie, you mentioned biscuits? That made me hungry and since I haven't had breakfast yet, I now have biscuits in the oven and plan to make some sausage gravy. Yum! Yum! Biscuits and gravy, one of my favorites.

mimiknoxtaylor 10-31-2014 06:44 AM

Sunrise 450, thanks for sharing this. Wednesday I got some cute Christmas fab to make my santee a table topper - I liked this new way better than the other 10 min one.

Awwwww! Enjoy!!! Wish I'd remembered to make biscuits, this morning. I don't think I have any buttermilk, so they'd wouldn't have been quite as yummy, anyway. :(

jaba 10-31-2014 07:55 AM

Sunrise450, it is pretty and super fast but think I would use batting in it and sew around the edges or quilt it a little some way. I received a 10 minute runner in a swap a few years ago and it was okay until you went to wash it. Went so "limp" that to me just wasn't something I'd put on the table. After washing, it took a lot of spray starch and ironing to get the shape back and bet this one would too! If you needed a quickie it would sure work though, just an opinion from Flirty Peppermint Buns :)
Lots of mailing going on, next 3 weeks or so everyone should have a box they can look at, shake and smell. Temptation for sure.....

dfelker 10-31-2014 08:23 AM

My Secret Santee box is filling up very quickly. Just a few finishing touches this weekend!!

pyffer3 10-31-2014 08:24 AM

Sprinkles McJingles reporting for duty! My box was all ready to go until I remembered in my sleep last night that I failed to put a card in it telling who I am! Now I have to go home tonight, open it up, put some info in there ( and maybe stuff another item into it) and then mail it on Monday! Looking forward to receiving my package and opening day. Off to the whole with some donuts and coffee with a splash of Kalhua! Should I bring enough for everybody?

MizMelly 10-31-2014 08:28 AM

Hey it must be ME!!!!! Happy Jolly Toes

Hello from Ms. Sprinkles McSprinkles!!
This morning we having some rain with snowflakes in the mix. Typical of Halloween here in Michigan. I'm actually taking the day as I need to start my Samhain Cross-stitch project. It is set up to take the whole year, but I have to work on the section of Samhain from the Joan Elliott's Celtic Wheel design. I'm happy to report that even though I had a doctor appointment yesterday, I was able to finish one gift and worked on another. I just needed a mental break from Christmas. Hope all will be safe tonight if you have treak-or-treaters out there.

Tricia

marilyn43 10-31-2014 09:51 AM

My elf name is Hpppy. Most of the time that is what I am. Oh my I just keep finding things for my S.S. What a wonderful time of the year to share some fun with friends I haven't even met.

juneayerza 10-31-2014 10:06 AM

Sunrise 450 I like the table runner, so many possible combinations for decorating. I think it would be fairly easy to add a light batting if you wanted to and still do it the same way they did it except you would need to use a regular sewing machine instead of a serger.

Cindy60545 10-31-2014 10:41 AM

Bubbles Twinkle Toes reporting in! I've just got to wrap & send. But I can't mail til Monday. Going to the Nascar race on Sunday. Go team Hendricks!! So sorry to see Jr out of the chase, but we still have Jeff Gordon to push to the lead!
Hint for the day: You're a Southerner!
