It's not cookies, but I did make this and it was pretty darn yummy! I'll follow with a Cookie Recipe:

The Famous Woolworth Ice Box Cheesecake

1 (3 ounce) package lemon Jell-O
1 cup boiling water
8 ounces cream cheese
1 cup granulated sugar
4 Tablespoons lemon juice ( less if you don't want to much lemon)
1 can Carnation Evaporated milk, well chilled
Graham crackers, crushed

Dissolve Jell-O in boiling water. Cool until slightly thickened.

Beat cream cheese, sugar and lemon juice with mixer until smooth. Add thickened Jell-O and beat well.

In a separate bowl, beat the Carnation milk until fluffy. Add cream cheese/Jell-O mixture and beat well with mixer.

Line bottom of 9 x 13-pan with crushed Graham crackers.

Spread filling over and top with more crushed Graham crackers. Chill.

I love these Cookies!

Giant Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
Recipe by Our Best Bites

Ingredients:

1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour, lightly spooned into measuring cups and leveled with a knife (very high altitudes may want to try adding 2 additional tablespoons of flour)
1 cup quick-cooking oats
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon kosher salt (or 3/4 teaspoon table salt)
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
2 cups raisins

Instructions:

Preheat oven to 325. If desired, line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone mats.

Beat the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla and mix until combined.

In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients (except the raisins). Add to the butter/sugar/egg mixture and mix until combined. Add the raisins and mix until just combined.

Using a 1/4 cup ice cream scoop, drop the dough by the scoopful onto the prepared baking sheets. You should be able to get about 6 cookies per sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until they begin to turn light brown around the edges. Remove from the oven and cool for 5 minutes and then transfer to a wire cooling rack and cool completely. Makes about 16 giant cookies (or you can make more cookies that are smaller; you may need to adjust the bake time slightly).

"Woolworth" "ice box" cheesecake????? OH MY !!!!! Blast from the past for sure -- my mom used to take me on the streetcar to the next town over because they had a Woolworth store....and my Gram never called the refrigerator anything but an "ice box". This must surely be a recipe that has been handed down through your family. What fun !!!

WOW!! :D Did you ever bring back memories. I have made this recipe for at least 45 Years & my family still likes me to make it every now & then. For the topping I generally use a can of Wilderness cherry pie filling or the Blueberry filling. It has always been a big hit in my house. Thank you for the memories fo Woolworth too!!
:D :D :D :D

reeskylr, Thanks for posting your cheese cake recipe. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. I used to make this recipe years ago and some how misplaced it and haven't found it yet till now. Going to the store tomorrow so I can make it for hubby and I. I made it in different jello flavors also, I remember using one of the red jellos.
Thanks again for a trip down memory lane!

dharen7 11-09-2014 03:22 PM

My mom always made that cheesecake for my older brother and younger sister for their birthday cake and they didn't share

reeskylr 11-09-2014 03:39 PM

I'm so glad folks are loving the cheese cake. I think I made one with Lime Jello, which was good!

OK, here's my favorite. If you like Eatmore Bars, you're going to love these.

EAT MORE SQUARES

3/4 cup honey
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup chocolate chips
1 1/2 cup of mini marshmallows (or 14 large ones)
3 cups of rice krispies
1 cup of salted peanuts

Melt honey and peanut butter together until it just bubbles a bit.
Don't leave it on too long as it burns easily. Turn heat down, and then,
melt the chocolate and marshmallows in the honey/peanut butter mixture.
Add rice krispies and peanuts.
Pat into a slightly greased 7 x 11 pan. Let cool a bit and then cut into 24 squares.

i have been told there will be snow tomorrow. I am not a lover of snow and ice but perhaps Santa needs it to deliver my package. why must i look forward to snow when i havent exactly liked watching the leaves go screaming to their deaths?

jeanne49 11-09-2014 05:56 PM

I haven't sent my pkg. yet and it won't get sent until later in Nov. Kind of out of money and won't get more till around the end of Nov., actually Nov. 25. It goes priority mail so no need to worry about it getting there too late and besides it doesn't really have too far to go. But in a way I'm glad I did send it yet, I just found a few more little items to put in the pkg.

Jamimclaugh 11-09-2014 06:26 PM

I have officially received my secret Santa box :) the first one I thought was it wasn't, so I was sniffing the wrong box lol. This one jingles ;)

1. Mail deadline is November 14th. That is a HARD deadline. No mailing AFTER this time. Since you have almost 2 months, there should be NO excuse for mailing late, unless you are incapacitated or 6 feet under.

2. ALL packages MUST have a DELIVERY CONFIRMATION when sent.

Once again this year I've had requests for my vodka Christmas cake recipe so here goes. Please keep it in your files as I'm beginning to get tired of typing this up every year! (Made mine this morning!!!)
1 cup sugar, half pound butter, 1tsp baking powder, 1 cup water, 1tsp salt, 1cup brown sugar, lemon juice, 4 large eggs, nuts, 1....bottle vodka, 2 cups dried fruit, 4 cups flour.

Sample a cup of vodka to check quality. Take a large bowl, check the vodka again to be sure it is of the highest quality, then repeat. Turn on the electric mixer. Beat one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl. Add 1 teaspoon of sugar. Beat again. At this point, it's best to make sure the vodka is still ok. Try another cup just in case.

Turn off the mixer thingy. Break 2 eggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit. Pick rest of the fruit off the floor, wash it and put it in the bowl a piece at a time trying to count it. Mix on the turner. If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers, just pry it loose with a drewscriver. Sample the vodka to test for tonsisticity. Next sift 2 cups of salt, or something. Check the vodka. Now shit shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts. Add one table. Add a spoon of sugar or somefink. Whatever you can find. Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over. Don't forget to beat off the turner. Finally, throw the bowl through the flimmin’ window. Finish off the vodka and wipe the worktop with the flurry cat.....

okay short note... I'm home & I'm miserable. We had some complications & took out only half of my thyroid. Any more would have resulted in me have a tracheotomy. It was bad enough to have to spend 2nd night in hospital. I'm bruised from chin to sternum bone so no bras on the poor bruised "girls". I'm having problems talking and it tires me out. I look like someone worked me over with bat & feels that way too. have pics but i'm not allowed to do anything but sleep & watch tv. It has messed up my sewing time since I can't look down. difficult to swallow pills & on clear liquid diet. Doped to gills and at times a challenge to breathe as my chest hurts adn feels heavy. tryingg Laugh & coughing makes me think of that elephant on those copd ads. I have to sit up in recliner to sleep. not comfy... the back fits 6.1'Steve better then my short self5.5'. I'm up too early& kinkedup trying to stay up right to get good sleep. I go back to see surgeon on Thursday. more when able.

I must apologize to whoever has me as their secret santa person, life has gotten in the way and I have not been able to keep up with all the chatter and jump in this year. I truly apologize, just so much going on. I do enjoy reading all the posts and a lot of these recipes sure sound good! I just have not had time to jump in on conversation but I wanted to let my secret santa know I have not dropped off the face of the earth.
I have gotten my secret santa's box all packed and ready to go. I sure hope she enjoys it!!! I do have fun gathering presents and I look forward to getting my box too!!!

purtercat92 11-10-2014 06:26 AM

Was just reading back some of the posts, and Dec. 7th is good for me too. Now just patiently waiting for my santa's box and I know my person is waiting on hers too. Thought I would get it out early this year, but no such luck, It will go out this week, but before the deadline!!!!!

happynana 11-10-2014 07:27 AM

I will be mailing on deadline day since mine goes around the corner and down the street (literally). As of yesterday, it's all wrapped and neatly packed and ready to ship! (and the 14th is payday for me, so I will be able to pay Mr. postman to deliver it!).

{{{{{{{{{ Tricia }}}}}}}}} Bless your heart! Just concentrate on taking a day at a time, until you're feeling better.

Would it help any, to put a small (or larger) pillow behind your back, in the recliner? Feel better!!!

Still laughing!

My 5 month old pup just found himself in the mirror the other day. Started barking away and wondering why no one else was barking at the strange dog. Took him a few days to finally allow the other dog to be in the mirror.

My secret santa gift will be mailing Wednesday and it is filled with goodies. Making the last handmade item tonight. I foudn the greatest collectible for my secret santa recipient, as she collects odd themed items of this nature.

Now, "We're off to see the wizard."

ShelleyCS 11-10-2014 11:40 AM

Yippee! My parcel arrived today from far far away! There's a box inside a mailing envelope, so I'm sure that must mean I can remove the mailing envelope, right? Right? Hmmmm. . . Maybe not. It doesn't rattle. But it is kinda heavy! And it feels like there's a big long card in it maybe?

juneayerza 11-10-2014 11:57 AM

Tricia, I know what you are going through since I just was in a similar situation myself. My sofa has a high back to it and I piled up a lot of pillows aagainst the arm. This enabled me to be in an upright position but still able to kind of lean into the back of the sofa for support. I hope that made sense. Be kind to yourself and just let everyone else do what needs to be done so you can heal.

Cranberry White Chocolate Chip Scones

(festive and oh-so-yummy!)

2 cu flour
1/3 cu sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 cu butter, chilled
1/2 cu heavy whipping cream
1 large egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla
6oz. white chocolate chips
1 cu craisins

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt. Cut the butter into flour mixture to form coarse crumbs. In a small bowl, stir together cream, egg and vanilla. Add cream mixture to flour mixture and knead until just combined. Add white chocolate chips and craisins. (You really have to mix them in!)
Pat out dough into 9x12 inch diameter circle. Cut into triangles.
You can freeze them at this point between layers of waxed paper in a freezer bag or put on up greased baking sheet and bake for 15-17 minutes.
no need to thaw if you are baking from frozen.

Mock Devonshire Cream

1/2 pint whipping cream
3-4 Tbsp powdered sugar
small carton of sour cream

Beat whipping cream until peaks form. Fold in powdered sugar and a heaping Tbsp of sour cream. Refrigerate until serving. Makes about 1 1\2 cups.

sunrise450 11-10-2014 12:04 PM
