How neat Nancy! Wow you have moved far away now.
Yeah, I actually asked my DH "Where is our son and what have they done with him". It was so sweet that he did that and I do think he misses us. We'll be going for the whole day tomorrow: 1/2 Quilt Show and 1/2 just hangin out with Sam!

So glad everything turned out all right in the end for Feeney! Hardy Harr Harr

PS: Krystyn maybe I am not supposed to have read that, but yes color catchers work great and I do like red, pink and blue too.

Lara, you will be my go to person for all things down under!

I don't know if this will be yours ... we'll see. I have some other ideas perculating, too.

Too funny Krystyna! I wonder if our Aussie friends ever heard it used that way? LOL

We do have so weird slang sayings but not heard of that one BuzzinBumble. But I live a sheltered life here in Tassie :)

Jean D 06-01-2013 02:33 PM

I pm'd my partner Kitsykeel! And Miss Buzzin, what a sweetheart son, I have a few like that too. Just when I get thinking they're a little self centered, they'll do something so kind and thoughtful and melt my heart. But that young man knows what his mom loves!

skaduzy 06-01-2013 04:12 PM

If you go be sure to check out the Cottonpickers Quilt Shop booth. They are my local quilt shop. It's Beth, the mom, and daughter Becky who wrote Seamingly Scappy. It's a fairly new book on the market. Very nice people.

Have a good time with your son.

Good morning my darling ladies! Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day -- and hoping that all our friends in the Midwest have escaped the tornadoes.

I've completed a quilt top and need to get it quilted and bound and then we'll see how it looks and whether it's good enough to send to Lara. I had a LOT of fun with it and it took some interesting turns -- not at all what I thought I'd be doing -- but that's usually the way it goes with my quilts, ha ha!

My son was here while I was planning the block placement and he started a discussion about why a design wall is useful. And then he started doodling and came up with an interesting design based on curved blocks! Then I pulled out some interesting fabrics and we started plotting. He's quite good at FMQ so eventually -- maybe when I get a home again -- I'll get him to make one from start to finish!

We spent most of the afternoon into early evening photographing and taking inventory of the moldy disgusting mess in the garage. Still have a long way to go, but it's a start. The most heart breaking was finding a sodden box of pictures from when my son was little. But I keep reminding myself that the stuff is not my son. It's just stuff. So ... back to work ... here's one tiny corner.

Will catch up with you later tonight!

sistahdebbra 06-02-2013 06:06 AM

Not sure how I missed the sign-up so if it's not too late........... sending you a PM, just in case.

luvstoquilt 06-02-2013 07:14 AM

Bumble I know you are having a wonderful day with your son. such special times...love my sons so much! Oh Krystyna, what a mess. Wish I lived closer I would come help you...so sad about the pictures but if you are like me I can close my eyes and see my children on the back of my eyelids...they are grown now, married with children of their own but they will always be my little boys!

Anna please send me that precious little pup along with my quilt! What a doll!

Thrilled for Feeney...I know that is one pup that is feeling much better!

Chasezzz 06-02-2013 09:31 AM

Color catchers do work...and the best is the reusable one from Carbona that lasts for 30 washes (a treated white terry cloth). I lucked out and found five of the reusable ones at Big Lots for $2 each...went home and found they are $6-$10 each online! Not sure if other Big Lots have them....

sew_Tracy 06-02-2013 04:00 PM

Am I too late to join? I have no use for a doll quilt, but if able to join, I would love my swap partner to send my quilt to wordpainter who makes dolls for sick kids. Possible?

Jean D 06-02-2013 05:52 PM

Oh Krystna, I will quit complaining about my hoarding mess, at least it isn't moldy and ruined. Tomorrow when I go back at it, I'll know it could be so much worse. Blessings girl!

Lynnie25 06-02-2013 08:56 PM

Krystyna, your disgusting mess in the garage looks like the everyday mess in DH's big shed. Everytime I ask him what he is going to do for the day, he says 'I am going to clean up the shed' - of course it never happens as he wouldn't know just where to start...what is it about men and their messy garages....oh wait, I could probably answer that question with another (from a man's perspective)...what is it about women and their messy sewing rooms (or in my case dining room / sewing room / lounge chair corner

Oh I was going to say to Ms Grace, your little quilt will get the binding sewn down tonight and then its label and hanger attached and it will be ready to post later in the week. I really do hope you like my 'patriotic' (not pathetic) attempt !!!

luvstoquilt 06-03-2013 05:08 AM

I finally got my quilt all cut out...it took 2 days...many pieces...now lets see if I can sew it up! Anna may be getting a different quilt! YIKES!

Krystyna 06-03-2013 05:48 AM

Hi Tracy,
I sent you a PM, but I think it would be best if you sent it to this person yourself unless your partner feels otherwise.

Lynnie,
I too, will be able to mail your package by the end of the week.:)

Krystyna 06-03-2013 05:53 AM

Sharon, I hope you stick with it. Would love to see your many pieces quilt. You do have almost a month to finish!

That photo was one small section of a double garage. I had lots of stuff on shelves but the shelves collapsed ... tons of books that had a good two inches of mold on them. Ugh. We went back yesterday and brought the dogs. I felt so bad for them -- they were scratching at the back door to go in. We made some good progress, but we have a long way to go since each bit needs to be photographed and inventoried. We put a ton of it at the curb for trash pick up. I just hope they take it all.

So ... who will be the first to post a photo?

Annaquilts 06-03-2013 06:56 AM

It is all good luvstoquilt. Just have fun with it.:D

If I wanted to Search for a certain person's post in this June swap, how would I do it?

jaba 06-03-2013 09:23 AM

Go to the person's profile , click on recent posts, and then scroll down until you find it. Click on it and it will take you right there.

Cogito 06-03-2013 09:57 AM

Krystyna,
you are always such a fun upbeat person on this board. I don't know how you do it! I would just ball every day and feel so sorry for myself. I live in Iowa and have luckily not had flooding although it is all around us.....just the other day when raining heavily the town just to the north of us was getting rain at the rate of 10" an hour!
Thank you for being an inspiration.

i tend to work slowly and over think every step cause I am such a perfectionist. I NEED the extra time! :D

If she doesn't like it, she can send it back and I will make a different one, right? 'Course, I may want to rethink that idea, haha.

Haha BertieD, it hasn't arrived yet, but of course you know I'm gonna LOVE it! :)

connected w/partner , got the fabric, now just need to get movin!

BuzzinBumble 06-03-2013 02:41 PM

Ooftah, have I got a lot of catching up to do with you all:

Lynnie, I love some of the colorful phrases Australians use, they make a person smile.:o

Jean that is soooo true! We both are blessed!

Skaduzy I did find them and they are such nice gals! What lured me in was the gorgeous Judy Niemeyer quilts that both had made and were displaying. I told them about you saying I should look for them and they were pleased as punch. The only problem is that I didn't know your real name.

Well Krystyna, you are far ahead of me... I can't get started until a fabric I ordered arrives in a few days. But i did develop a plan and a pattern and chose the fabrics. I hope I can do it justice. Even my DH is psyched about this quilt... he loves vintage trailers. But don't worry, I won't let him keep it.

Aaaack! so many of you already have your quilts done or near done! :hunf: (Green with envy)
I'm with you Cogito - I need all the time in the month!

I LOVE that Blaze is into designing and planning quilts with you Krystyna! It must be so wonderful. Seeing the photo of your garage really makes us realize what a miracle your bouyant spirit and enthusiasm are.

I really think what you said Sharon (luvstoquilt) about closing your eyes and seeing your sons is beautiful. When my kids were growing i used to try to imprint moments in my heart.

jaba 06-03-2013 02:47 PM

Both of my doll quilts went in the mail today, maybe by the end of the week ladies.

Krystyna asked me to post a picture of a penny rug quilt we have in our front entrance, just for interest's sake. I did not make it - We bought it years before I learned how to quilt and now that I am wiser, i realize that it probably was made in China. But it is hand sewn and quite pretty.
See that thermostat on the wall above the bench? DH thinks this is hyterical: If I sit on the bench while I am having a hot flash he can actually watch the temperature reading on the thermostat go up, up , and up. ;) He thinks it's a hoot!

I could identify with everything you said above except being a perfectionist as you will see when you get my quilt, haha.

skaduzy 06-03-2013 04:53 PM

BuzzinBumble,
So glad you found Beth and Becky at the quilt show. Beth is certified to teach Judy Niemeyer classes but I bet she told you that. I want to make the Mariner's Compass when her next class starts.
I guess they don't know me as skaduzy. (My real name is Sue McGurk. I should have told you that. :o )

IrelandDragonQuilting 06-03-2013 05:58 PM

OK I signed up for this swap and never got a name?? :( OH well thanks anyways

Post 109 has the list of partners. I see your name there with a partner.

Hope this helps you find your partner

Lynnie25 06-03-2013 07:02 PM

BuzzinBumble, love the wool quilt, pretty soothing colours.

ROFL @ your DH's obvious heartfelt sympathy that you go through with your hot flashes but oh the vision that went through my head of you sitting there on the bench with steam coming out of the thermostat was hilarious. Hot flashes are a darn nuisance especially in the middle of winter as you are trying to hand quilt a large quilt on your lap - some nights I declare I just may have to become the first nudie quilter :) :) (and NO there won't be any pictures if I do)

Sorry. Takes too long and I guess I'm lazy as the day is long.

Krystyna 06-04-2013 02:58 AM

Lara, I love your penny quilt ... and the bench and it's cover and the pillow. You must have the most charming house. It just looks so cozy! No penny quilt this month. Yesterday I got color catchers so as soon as the quilt is quilted and bound into the wash it goes and then we'll see what happens.

While we were at the house I pulled out my old huge paella pot from the scrap metal bin to see if I could sanitize it. I don't know if I'll cook any food in it, but I will be able to boil wool in it. Someone told me to only use a top loading machine and unfortunately the apartment complex machines are front loading. I don't know why that matters but apparently it does, so I'll do it the old fashioned way - boiling! And then eventually someone will get a penny quilt!

So I was the first to post my sign up for June's swap and now I am the first to post my pics of the quilt I received from BertieD! It is so fabulous. I even got a little tearful cause it has been 20 years since I participated in a swap. It brought back memories of when I belonged to several quilt guilds and small groups. It is so beautiful and I am so grateful BertieD! Thank you, thank you.
She also sent a little note pad in the Americana theme along with some fabrics. What a nice gift. I absolutely love the back fabric BertieD and I hope you are gonna tell me that you bought it this year and I can still find it cause I gotta have some. :D
I don't see anything wrong with my little quilt.....love is blind.

Cogito 06-04-2013 05:27 AM

I just posted a positive feedback for BertieD. Just a reminder to others to do the same. :)
