my sets are never going to be identical because i cut up scraps from my sewing projects along with wof strips. i sort all of the wof strips into the trays first & then i place my stray scraps stamps into the trays. each baggie will be unique to its receiver. with each new stamp swap i try to incorporate 20-25 new fabrics from the last swap i sent just in case some of the same swappers are playing the new round.

To keep straight what I have already placed:

I put dots of 2 way glue (like post it note glue) on cardstock & put it up with magnets on my metal kitchen cupboard door. Stick the cut stamps on it. I know how many I have cut, how many left to cut, & what fabric, all at a glance. And that set is my own keeper set.

I put my big cutting mat on my kitchen cart. (small house 925 sq feet)

Yes, that would probably happen to me too. If I put a quilt on the floor to measure it, Roxie automatically thinks its hers. She's always getting into my quilting supplies.

Swappers, please send me a PM when you mail your packages so I can keep an eye out for them. I'll need to put a bin next to the mailbox if I'm going to get more than 3 at a time.

Thanks.

i have several quilting projects on the horizon so will have an abundance of fabric scraps coming up and need to make space for them.

The more the merrier! Thank you! (I usually put two or three extras in my baggies, depending on what I have around.)

Hello swappers....I'm not joining this one but thought you'd like to see the postage stamp quilt variation I completed this year. I joined the PSI Quilt quilt along but did my own pattern. Somebody else in the group did an different one too that I really like. Here is a link to my flickr photostream so you can see pictures of the quilt I did (my avatar) http://www.flickr.com/photos/5800297...7626558897887/ and to the quilt along flickr photostream too.....http://www.flickr.com/groups/thepostagestampquiltalong/ There are some really nice examples of postage stamp quilts if you google it too. Hope these are inspirational too you. Happy stamp collecting!

Foxflower, nice quilt. If I remember correctly, PSI's "stamps" were made from jelly rolls, so the stamps finished at two inches instead of one inch. Is that correct? But it looks good regardless of the size!

Foxflower 08-11-2011 04:45 PM

Thank you. Yes, the PSI quilts used jelly rolls and strip piecing. I didn't do either, but my "stamps" were 2.5 inches as well and had repeats. My whole quilt finished at about 109" square....so smaller stamps would have been fine for a queen. One could use those narrower rolls. What are they called? Honey buns or something.

Thanks for sharing foxflower.

I got started on my postage stamp quilt because of Keepsake Quilting! For a price they used to send out packets of 1.5" samples of their fabric. I think I wound up with close to a dozen of their little boxes of stamps, i.e., hundreds of little squares! Now some of those stamps are sewn into blocks, which I will put together into a quilt . . . some day!

Are there any spots left? If so, I'll sign up for 20 sets. Thanks! Mary B MS
