I love all the blocks I have seen sofar. The wee little carots were extremely cute, the flowers stunning and all the others inspiring. I agree I want one of each.

Petthefabric, here is the linke for the rose. http://www.reginagrewe.de/05gratismuster/gm0011_e.html
I hope it works. You can go to the English version & it's under free patterns by Regina Grewe. For this rose, you do need to sew two sections together, email her, & then she'll send you the rest of the pattern.

Your fabrics don't have to be the same, as long as your backgrounds are white or white on white.

Signups close on the 28th, but the blocks don't have to be to me until Mar. 18, so there's time if you want to jump in.

Ok. I have looked at what you all have done. Then I decided to check out a tutorial on how to do this. I am going to try it. Today. I don't know how it will go but I do have until the 28th. LOL. Wish me luck.

The Jubilee Rose block is 15x15 cm so almost 6 inches unfinished.

Ok here is my first paper piece square. It is about 6 inches square. It took me 6 hours to make. Whew. I am not sure that I can do that 4 more times. I do want to keep one for myself. That would mean that it would take me one day for each block. Sigh. I came on to show all of you the square and to tell you that I wouldn't be able to do this but then Rhonda says that I have until March 18. LOL. what a way to con a person into at least trying. I have a second pattern that I want to try too...a basket. Sigh. Ok I am going to try. Now that I know how to do this one....I can set it up like an assembly line and maybe it will go faster. Do you all think that maybe I picked out a complicated pattern???????

Your block is very pretty. One tip that helps, cut your fabric at least an inch wider on all sides than you think it will need.
on diagonal seams,I try folding the fabric over to see if it will cover the space, plus cover the quarter inch outer space.

It is gorgeous and it will get better over time. Maybe look for a block with a little less pieces.

ok my frustration level peaked and I am not going to do this swap. I cut everything out like the video showed me and so I was already to go and realized that I cut the material on the wrong side of the print so it just doesn't go. So I am throwing in the towel. I gave it a good try and it is too frustrating for me. So I will not be doing this. Sorry all of you.

Barb can you trace on the back the pattern and sew it that way? I know exactly what you mean. Been there done that.

So sorrry to hear. I was really looking forward to having you swapping with us. Don't give up on paper piecing. Maybe lay it all aside in a ziplock bag and come back to it when you feel ready. I am still learning too and over time have gained a better feeling for what patterns I can do. I am just getting comfortable with doing patterns that have multiple sections that need to be sewn together after being paper pieced. also I do better with patterns in the 3 1/2 to 6 1/2 range, too big or too small always gets me. Also I always make one first, or try, and then decide if I want to make more. Sometimes the most basic ones get tossed out by me because they are plain frustrating and I keep making the same mistake.
