Just an update. After measuring my shelves and thinking about fabric size, I decided to purchase 1000 of the 8.5x11" Magazine Boards directly from BCW. Total cost was $81.60. I also got the shirt clips from Amazon. (Thank you Marjben for suggesting them.) I don't expect these things will show up for a while, and then it will take a lot of effort to load them up with fabric, but I am looking forward to having a neater sewing room.

dunster, you will love having it all organized. I would have liked to use the magazine boards, too, but that was a little pricy for me at the time, so I used foam board from the dollar store that I cut to even sizes. I might have to check into those shirt clips, though!

I switched to boards a few months ago and very glad I did. I had folded everything and neatly stacked them before, but couldn't fit all my fabric on the shelves and ALWAYS needed the fabric near the bottom of the stack and it would get wonky. I didn't want to have to reorganize every time I needed something. My stash is mostly FQ's and half yards, so I cut the boards in half. Left a few intact for the yard plus pieces. Now, everything fits on my bookshelf and I can pull fabrics much easier without disturbing all the rest. I realized my shelf was deep enough for 2 rows, so hubby made me sturdy cardboard shelf risers for the back row so I can still see everything. Before and after pic below. I think it is odd that some people consider 1 yard a scrap... They would consider 95% of my stash scraps!
