I finally splurged and ordered the Accuquilt Studio 2 and a bunch of the strip dies, size super giant. (There was a BOGO on the Studio dies.) Nothing has arrived yet, and some of the dies are on backorder, so all I can do now is get my quilting room ready. Some of the dies are huge - about 14"x26" - and I am trying to figure out how to store them. I know Accuquilt has a stand that will hold 5 dies standing on end, but I would like other options. How do you store your large dies?

I don’t have dies but I would think you would want something sturdy to protect them from bending. I wonder if a thrifted old fashioned hard sided suitcase would work? I have seen some that were covered with new fabric or decoupaged that look nice. Another option would be a worker tool box.

I also purchased two of the long racks for the dies. I did add a bottom so nothing slides out of the slots such as bolts of fabrics. The racks fit in the hampers. One hamper contains long dies and the other has bolts of fabric for special projects. Both hampers are together in my sewing room. The sewing box fits on the tops and makes the perfect spot.

The hampers keep the dust out too! I like that they have straight sides and are tall enough to fit the long dies which is something to consider.

My regular dies are in the storage boxes. The cubes weren't available when I first started with AC. The boxes fit nice on shelves in my sewing room. I'm working on a master list for each box.

ETA: PS: I put labels on the top edge of dies. Easy to find the right one needed for a project with just removing the hamper lid.

Excellent ideas, Rhonda! The labels are a must if standing the dies on end. I'm going to look into those hampers, too.

You will not be sorry about purchasing the Accuquilt Studio. I have one and it does make cutting go faster and the cuts are much straighter (for me) than my own cutting skills allowed.

I store my dies in a china closet. The big ones just make it inside of it, and that is with some angling to get them in. I plan to look at the hampers Rhonda suggests.

Be very careful handling the dies. The blades are sharp! I've cut my finger a couple of times just picking them up somewhat carelessly.

Rhonda that looks like a great idea. How many of the dies can you fit in one hamper?

I just checked for you. There are 7 of the wider long dies and 3 of the thin long dies. I have the GO and these are the strip dies and also train die. I only put one die in each of the slots so the dies don’t rub together.

I also have the studio and did not know what I was going to use, I"m going to get get a couple of these hampers, thank you for mentioning it rhonda.

I would be concerned about the weight of the strip dies for the Studio, do you put a rack in the bottom of the hamper and then stand the strip dies on end? What would be the purpose of the hamper if you need to use the rack anyway? Keep the dust off and protected? Am I missing something - the hampers say they fold up, how sturdy are these?

Yes, the rack goes in the hamper to hold the dies upright and separate them so the blades don't touch. I don't want to see the dies out but still want them easily accessed. My room is small so organization is key for my sanity. LOL.

The hampers also function as a space to put my sewing box with supplies and scissors. I also use another one of the AQ racks to hold the light box, scanning mat, and one GO Big die.

The hampers are very sturdy. Hope that helps!
