Listen closely and you, too, can hear my sewing room singing Dianne Warwick's song, with a twist of its own:

I know I'll never Look this way again, / so I keep photo-in' on before the good is gone....

I'll post close-ups in the next post, in case they won't show up here.

I store most fabric in a dresser drawer this way.

two more drawers with color "files"

and a 4th one (not photographed) that houses assorted home dec/apparel/craft fabric and accesssories

some Art Bins with WIPs (Works in Progress) plus some oddball stuff

I have yet to hang my design wall, but so far it works just propped against the wall.

My favorite toy Janome Horizon 8200

I used turquoise scrapbook paper, black and white ribbon, and black and white labels to set up a scrap system that works for me.

This painting inspired the colors of my sewing room. My grandmother used to sing "His Eye is on the Sparrow" all the time when I was a girl. She was also the grandma who played dolls with me, made doll quilts, and let me choose whatever dolls I wanted to keep when she was in the nursing home. I think of her often when I'm sewing.

My ironing table sits at the same level as my sewing machine, so all I do is swivel back and forth to build blocks.
I do have to get up for cutting large pieces at the cutting table, but that's good. I need to stretch.

My machine sits in front of the window, so I get a bird's eye view of the street and I can eavesdrop on the neighbors down there. I'm not nosy, just ....um...observant. That's it. Observant!

True confession--the adjacent bedroom contains a dresser with a bit of yardage and stuff that I haven't decided what to do with it. It won't get to come back into the Happy Place until it's been properly vetted.

Hope you enjoyed the little tour of where I love to let the world go by.

The Singer 15-91 in the cabinet at the foot of the bed is named Kathryn, for the grandmother who inspired me to sew.

Thanks. I don't understand why the pictures in the latter posts come up saying "attachment" when the preview showed the pictures before I published?

I love your lampshade. Looks like you made it from selvages. What a great idea!

That's a great looking sewing room. No wonder it is your happy place. I like how you labeled your boxes for scraps. That's a fantastic looking sewing machine!
