Well, my neighbor is going to paint the basement tomorrow. Needless to say, my normally mild-mannered son was annoyed. He's charging me $125! He asked if that price was OK. I said NO! It's too low!!!

I too follow your posts & am so excited for you! I would rather have an old house instead of a new one. You can DIY the whole thing your way. You are so talented & looking forward to lots more posts about your house & quilting journey!. Wish I could be there to help! One area could be a classroom it's so COOL! Reading your post is like reading a book. A humorous one! Love it!

Oh how wonderful for you to have all that space.

It will be fun to watch the progression of your girl cave, I like that name. Any way the old sewing machine is a
Singer 301 "big sister" to the featherweight and a wonderful piecing machine. The cabinet isn't anything special but you have a gem of an older machine. Check it out it only weighs 1 pound more than the Featherweight. Love all of your tables and it will look so wonderful with the pale yellow on the walls (I also can not stand the dark paneling) good luck and look forward to more pictures from you and your girl cave.

[QUOTE=Krystyna;6785825]And I am NOT a fan of paneling. There is a 5 gallon pail of very pale yellow paint that I was hoping my son and husband would apply to the walls ... but ... well, you know how that goes, so I've decided to hire my neighbor. Better to spend a few hundred dollars and have it done than be angry with my loved ones./QUOTE]

Wow, that's a TON of space. And all yours!

I painted some old paneling in my mother's home years ago - she was selling and needed to (inexpensively) lighten up that room. I vaguely remember I had to use an oil primer so it would stick and not peel off. Other than wiping it down before I started, I didn't have do anything else to prepare the walls. It was amazing the effect it had on the room.
A pale yellow, or any other lighter color, will brighten the place up immediately. And make it seem it even larger.

Please post some pics after the painting. Enjoy all that space.

I hope that you can share photos of the painted space when it is dry. I think it will be marvelous!

Happy new digs!!
I sewed pm a 301 at my mom's (and it is still operational, although probably needs a good cleaning) and my first machine was a 404. I think basically they are the same except that the 404 is a little updated model. Just basic straight stitching with a few attachments for zigzagging and buttonholes.
