Sounds like a good decision. Even if you had the spare room build you might find out that you and DH will be living there. All my kids, friends and hubby are frequently in my quilting room with me. I hope you get to post a picture.

Don't blame you a bit. ANd you would be close to the facilities of kitchen, wouldn't have to worry about building codes with plumbing and wiring. That in itself can be a daunting and expensive cost. Anxious to see finished and you might want to take a few before photos so we can ooh and aah at the transformation of making it your space!

We gave up our formal living room or as I like to call it the "formerly formal" living room. My sewing machine and fabrics/notions live in it. We are looking for a recliner so DH can visit me while I sew. We just finished out our garage. Had walls, ceiling and tile flooring installed for my Baby Lock Jewel and table and DH's treadmill. I still have 2 bookcases in the 4th bedroom w/my quilting books and some fabric...my cup runneth over.

My first thought on seeing those pictures was, what a beautiful space! So bright.

I gave up part of my gargantuan living/dining room space for a quilt room. I agree with mamagrande in that if you go out of the room you get DH visits. This way, he hears me, I hear him and we each stay in our spot. :) I had never heard the saying that "toda mi casa es cama," but I like it because it is true. LOL!

I am so glad I read to the end and got to see your pictures. My studio is away from home I love to go there and wish I could just live in it. You have the best of all worlds with a beautiful location wonderful light, and right in the house where you don't have to go anywhere. Enjoy it looks wonderful!
