Seems pretty pricey for what it is. I would do some more research .

That seems like a lot of money for that kind and quality cabinet but it it suits your needs now, do it. Maybe others on the board have ideas as to where you can find similar products for less. Otherwise, it looks to be a great combination of space efficiency and convenience of use. Let us know how it works for you.

That cabinet looks a lot like the old sewing cabinets sewers of the last generation used to have....but made of real wood. If I were you...I would look on craigslist or a thrift store for one. I have seen them for about $25-50. Some even have drawers. (and some come with old machines...that I bet you could sell to one of the vintage lovers on here!

I have the Sew Easy table also - it is sturdy, you tell them the machine you have and they send the insert that fits your machine and the table. I went ahead and got the insert to fit to make it a flat surface too. It was cheaper than the one you show and it came in 2 days.

Thanks all! I looked at the SewEzi and I really like it, but at 35" it's just too big for my small area. As for Craig's List, I've been looking for a couple of months now. It's probably our relatively small population but I just haven't found anything small enough that is still portable. There will be no designated spot for it. I appreciate all the input!

You will love having designated space for your sewing machine.

Respectively, and speaking from experience, a leaf on the right side of the cabinet is needed for pin cushion, etc........I have my cabinet butted up to a chest that level with my cabinet to achieve the needed space.

I also have the plastic drop in piece to make the machine level with the cabinet. I have found it to be very wobbly and it interferes with trying to use it. Have it stored and just leave my machine up and I piece with it as it. And, mine was made specifically for my machine and cabinet. Do be careful.

All in all, for the price you are looking at and the size you want/need......I would think you could pay someone to build your cabinet with two lift up pieces....one which hold the machine (usually on the back) and one which supports that piece (usually on the front). I am trying to describe the way 'old' sewing cabinets used to look.

Goodwill stores are great place to find sewing cabinets that are very inexpensive and usable.

If you have the $$$, the space, the need, and it meets your expectations, buy it. Get it done.

MDF is sturdy, lighter weight and less expensive. Solid wood is very heavy and 3-4 times more expensive than MDF. I love the idea of wood but the expense, no. Not to mention moving it around, getting it up to the second floor, etc. I look on craigslist ,etc all the time and rarely run across a cabinet in decnt shape, etc. I scored one of those "older" tables from the early 90's that allows my machine to sit flush with the surface and I love it.(($80). It was well taken care of. I do want an airlift tho so I continue to dream, for now.

Enjoy your new cabinet and dont second guess your decision. Get sewing!

I recently was in the market to get some sort of cabinet for my Babylock Plain Jane quilting machine (straight stitch medium arm machine). I hate sewing unless my machine is flush so I set about looking for some sort of cabinet. Good grief... the prices. Looked at Sew-easy and the Sylvia's as possibilities but honestly didn't even want to spend that much. I was sitting in my sewing room one night and an idea hit me. It took some help from a friend but it is going to work. I had an old particle board computer table in my room that was there holding plants. I have no idea how I came to have the table since I've inherited my mom's furnished house. She never bought much furniture in her life but had gifts over the years. That computer table had a keyboard tray that pulled out. I thought if I could get a hole cut in the top to do for my Babylock and somehow put boards or something on it to make the machine flush it might work. My close friends husband took on the task. He cut the hold and put some boards underneath to bring the machine flush. It worked!!! I can pull the table up to the front of another table and have a place for the quilts to rest as I'm quilting. I was so excited I couldn't contain myself. I am 64 and needing to scale down and certainly don't need to buy more furniture. You might think about something like that!! Of course it depends on your age and situation. If I were a young person, I might spring for a new cabinet but at my age I certainly didn't want too!
