Harriet,
I made my quilt on a sit-down HQ16. Love that machine. Wish I lived closer and could come to the show. :)

We fell in love with the Nolting. DH just talked to the rep again on the phone and we are looking forward to the show to see them again and operate one during class!

I am actually going tothe Des Moines show Oct 6-9 and have been admiring the HQ Sit Down (which I first saw a few weeks ago). It is in the affordable price range for me and I don't do a lot of large quilts--more small stuff so I think this would serve my purpose well. How long have you had your HQ Sit Down? Are you happy with it? Would you buy one again? How big is this quilt you have shown? and was it easy to do on the HQ Sit Down? I would love to hear your feed back on the HQ Sit Down as I do not know any one personally who owns one--to ask about it.

I love my Sit-down machine. I had looked at long arm machines in frames. But for me quilting and moving the machine just wasn't fun. It became more work than fun. I began looking at the New Bernina 830 just for the larger throat area. But the cost was way out of my league.

I began researching the sit-down machines. Not many of them out there. I was able to visit the Houston Quilt show. All of the big companies were there. I "test drove" APQS's George and the HG sit-down. The HQ was alot cheaper and the sales people really sold me. They were honest and didn't talk down the competition like the APQS people did. It was the best decision for me.

I have done all sizes of quilts. From wall to King. The larger sizes you have to watch that it doesn't fall off the sides and pulls. I usually push my machine up against the wall and use my ironing board on the other side. I have heard of some people making a fence to go around the edges to hold the quilt in. The extra area is so nice to have. My quilting goes so much faster now. I can do a lap throw in an afternoon.

My quilt that I posted is a 46X48. That one took me a few days to do. I really took my time because it was going to be my show quilt.

As for would I buy again. In a second. It was one of the best buys I have ever made. The customer service is fantastic. If I can answer any other questions, just ask. I love talking about my HQ. :)

Thank You for the compliment. The picture really doesn't do it justice. The white is so hard to photography. I plan on giving the quilt to my photographer after I am done showing it. He took the pictures for me free of charge, so thought I would let him have the quilt. He really wanted to use it when he photos babies. It will be neat knowing my quilt will be used for that purpose. Quilting is really a neat hobby and the HQ makes so much funner! :)

Just was at the show and saw your quilt. Very nice work! They had the judging and if you go on the www.quiltingwithmachines.com web site you can pull up all the winners (I think). Sorry to say yours did not make it. Several that I thought should have won something didn't win anything. There was some awesome work on display there.
