My husband is down in S Texas on a hog hunt so I have the whole house to myself. I don't have to cook or anything. Got phone calls from all my far away children and my youngest is coming over with her family this afternoon.

DS#1 and family were over last night with a bouquet of flowers and a huge pot of flowers for my front door. A beautiful bouquet of roses arrived from DS#3 and family who live in California and a box of huge juicy chocolate covered strawberries from a granddaughter who lives in California. This morning grandkids who live in Mass. called to wish me Happy Mother's Day. Today DH and I were treated to lunch at Longhorns, more gifts, lotions, creams and perfume by DS#2 and family and a gift card to Joann's. Finished the night watching one of our granddaughter perfrom a solo ballet dance and now to put my feet up and relax and reflect on the love received from my family today.

First off, I took my mom a self watering planter I made on Friday. Then I took her to the garden store. It was less crowded and she barely gets around. She LOVED it. (She had plans for today already anyway.) We had lunch with our youngest son (& DIL) who announced he was going to be a daddy come January. (Will it be a blue quilt or a pink quilt?) (Then my daughter announced she is having her 5th one in December... She's hoping for a blue quilt...) Then after we got some mowing done, I reached out to a friend who I knew was having a bad day due to her abusive mother. Did you know there are no Mother's Day cards for mothers like hers. It is awfully hard to figure where the line is between obedience and honoring an abuser. My prayers for those of you who have had a tough day.

My daughter had a barbecue at her house. She has about 13 acres and it is so nice and private. My other daughters were there with their husbands and children. My son and his family live in Katy, TX. We were sorry they could not be with us. The grandkids went swimming and all had a good time. It was a beautiful day, not so humid. Here in New Orleans, it will get so hot soon.
