We used to make it, though it was in the front yard, I lived on a farm in the Orillia area growing up and the drive was lined with sugar maples and the yard had a few more (the bush had more but it was to far to carry the sap, especially since we had lots already) She did everything with it and now I have a fit when I see the prices for it. though when I was on course way back in the military in Quebec, we went to the Caban a Sucre, (I knwo the spelling is off) (Sugar Shack) and boy was it good,

Melanie,

Pure Maple Syrup here cost between $15 to $30 for a 32 once jug. Depends on where you purchase it from. The health food stores are generally more expensive than the supermarkets.

Close. Cabanne à sucre. We go every year, boy is it good! Did you try 'la tire'? It's basically pure maple syrop, boiled down to evaporate a lot of the water content and then poured over cold (clean) snow so it hardens up (only a few tablespoons at a time). Then you take a popsicle stick and roll it in the little puddle so it all sticks to your stick instead of the snow and then you eat it... That's the best part of the Sugar Shack to me!

Actually, that's not as bad as I had imagined! Ours comes in about 500ml cans, which is about 17 oz. If two cans equal one of your jugs, then that's about 20 bucks right there, if you buy from a grocery store at 10 bucks a pop.
It's so yummy, but I guess it's something you use sparingly no matter where you live!

Amazon.com sells a company named Brown Family Farm it is not that expensive especially when you do subscribe and save. Lots of times they even have specials with a % off. The pancake mix is yummo I sent it to Star for SS.

Did anyone take pictures while we were at the party. I would like to see how we all fit in chat. I know Tippy had someones elbow in her ear and Miss Mouse was passing around a big plate of her fart cookies. It seemed to be wild at times. I myself sat very nicely in the corner watching the time go until the count down and we were able to open out pressies. So if anyone has any pic of chat please post them. thanks

LOL
