50th Birthday Quilt
#1
I started planning this quilt over 12months ago when I learned that my boss the owner of "South Australian Line Dancers" was turning 50 this year. I collected fabrics of his interests and likes, made up the blocks using white fabric as a contrast, then had his friends, family, staff and students write messages in the white areas then put the blocks together with black sashings and used some of the backing fabric for the posts. The centre block has his name, his date of birth, Happy 50th Birthday and the date of his 50th embroidered on it, a couple of other blocks have photos printed on to fabric because I couldn't find printed fabric with that particular theme. Some of the prints I used were stamps, coins, Chocolate, music notes, cogs ( he is a qualified engineer), couples dancing, cowboy boots, food, spicy sauce bottles, Japanese writing, Taurus Zodiac Sign, Bright Loud Shirts, American Flag/Eagle (he was born in Chicago) and the Australian Flag/Kangaroo. His wife is a collector of anything that has a cow print on it so hence the cowprint block with a pair of embroidered pink cowboy boots on it.
I was very pleased with the way it turned out, and he was surprised and very appreciative of his quilt.
Sorry realised to late this should have gone in the Picture Section, again sorry.
