Hi IMHO I think you should try the black floral in the center of the stars and use them in the border, then use the tans around the stars. mix them up so you are not using all the same tans in one block. Beautiful colors, please post what you decide.

I think I like the last one better too. I love that pattern. It's been around for a while! You give it a fresh look with the fabrics you've chosen!

how would the star look in the big floral?? I like the lower left, but think to big floral distracts from the star.

I need two blocks for this quilt. It was featured on Fons and Porter a couple of weeks ago here in OKC. Had a LOT of trouble locating the pattern and now I can't seem to get off the fence about the fabrics. Maybe I need to set it aside for a while and work on something else.[/QUOTE]

Just watched a Quilt in a Day program the other day.....Eleanor Burns called it Tennessee Waltz and has a book on it........
As far as colors....the floral would be a great border.......not part of the pieced center......as it incorporates all the colors of the pieced portion.......jmho

What if you turned the upper left corner block and lower right corner block so it would give you on color line going from upper lft to lower right and another color path going from upper right to lower left. I just finished a block call Pathways which is laid out this way and it forms a secondary pattern.

I agree with Bearisgray - the floral throw off the whole look of the block when used in a block, but would be perfect as a border fabric if you used the colors within that fabric to make up the flocks. I love the brown fabric, it puts the focus back on the block itself. For the blocks I'd either use fabrics with the same color intensity or use all the faded colors, but not both, or you'll have blocks that are washed out. Nice colors in the floral fabric - please post pics of the top when done...can't wait to see what you do with it!

I like the bottom left because the star really "pops" on that one and I like the color combination.
