Default 60th wedding anniversary quilts done

I made these two large lap quilts for my husband's brother and sister-in-law who will be celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in early October. I used some novelty fabric I had for the borders of the quilt for my sister-in-law. They owned a dairy farm for many years and I found the cow fabrics a couple years ago at a thrift shop and added to BIL's quilt. I wanted the quilts longer than they are wide and not sure the borders were the best decision but I didn't want to make more log cabin blocks.

Machine quilted on my Janome 6600 now (straight stitching only!), then binding done by machine. The backs are flannel--pink cheetah on my sister-in-law's and plaids on my brother-in-law's. These are my first log cabin blocks, and the next time I would use narrower strips.

What a thoughtful and beautiful gift for your brother and sister in law. Narrow strips or wide strips, all are great.

They will be so happy with their quilts! They'll be warm and cozy with the flannel backings and both are beautiful! You did a great job! And congrats to them!!!!!!
