    Default Adventures in Applique!

My first applique project is complete. I learned the basics as part of a holiday quilt last year, and found this kit, Take Flight (design by Christine Echols and fabrics by Marcus Batiks) and thought it would be a good challenge. It was! It's fused/machine and I struggled with manipulating the fabric with my smaller machine. But, overall I think it was a good first go, and I really like the look, so I'll carry on, perhaps with something smaller. I have been admiring hand applique so that might be my next project.
I used 80/20 batting and stitch in the ditch, it has a nice loft and I think will make a nice lap quilt or hanging.

Cute quilt. I can't even imagine having to do a stitch around every one of those birds. You did a great job. They are birds, aren't they?

That is lot of work. You did a good job. Be careful applique of any kind can be addictive.
