Might be worth a shot to call your local hospital and ask if they have an auxiliary. They're usually low key but run by very devoted little ladies who do a lot of lip service to round up donations. Up until fairly recently ours was a little hole in the wall that hardly anyone knew about. Of course they've since moved to main street and everyone knows now but even still, I score every time I go. They have the fun bags and yards rolled up. One of these days I'll post a pic of my stash to illustrate how one can build a stash without ever setting foot into a fabric store.
Still a little unsure what to do with these blocks. They seem rather old and fragile since they were all hand pieced. My DN wants to have a go at them so I'll probably let her do that so she can sharpen her skills.

Wow. Yeah, it is kind of sad to think someone never got to finish all their projects but maybe she was like a lot of us, had big ambitions and then once she got started she just wasn't interested enough to finish them. Someday somebody is going to get a lot of ufos from my sewing room and probably wonder what in the world I was going to do with them - some of them i don't even know what I was trying to make anymore!
