Have you seen the Fibonacci patterns that were out a few years ago? I forgot who made them and I can't locate them in my studio offhand.

Twisting bargello patterns give an optical illusion. I recommend Eileen Wright's book, Twist-and-Turn Bargello Quilts.

If I can figure out how to post a picture, you'll see one I made using her "Nebula" pattern. (FWIW, I reversed the light and the dark.)

A photo will (I hope) appear in a subsequent posting.

Now that I see it, this photo looks very light and fuzzy. I hope it'll look better when y'all see it! Please trust me that, when seen in person, the 3D effect is quite strong.

Many of the optical illusions are created by varying the width of the strips. I really like optical illusion quilts. They make a friend of mine sick to her stomach! LOL
