Antique quilts in my collection
#62
A curiosity question....You noted that some of these beautiful quilts did not have batting. Several that my MIL has, that also are very old, do not have batting either. So..my question, was it quite common to not put a batting in quilts, or are these simply "summer" quilts?

I would recommend NOT to do any thing to your Antique quilts because as soon as you do you cannot say that they are indeed that old. A friend of mine who owns a quilt shop has shown me several antique quilts she owns, told me once you do any thing to it it becomes just another quilt just finished and drops the price back to next to nothing. Just take care of it and love them as they are.
