Default A Baby Quilt in Reserve

Hi, it has been a while since I have posted a picture. Some times life gets in the way of living. My husband and I have 19 grandchildren who many of them now have families of their own. I never know when someone is going to call and say, "Granny, we are going to have a baby." I am trying to get a few baby quilts in "Reserve" for that occasion. I had a lot of left over strips from other baby blankets. So I cut a few more and this is the result. It will fit a standard baby crib. I used flannel "hand prints" for the backing. Think I should applique a little teddy bear or elephant on the front even though it is already quilted. I think I might be able to do a blanket stitch on the top layer. What do you think?

That looks so sweet as it is. Appliqué on top would just make it that much more special

I think it looks precious! It's so cozy and warm made with love from Grandmother. What more could one want?

What a neat idea. My husband's cousin does that too. She and her husband used to foster exchange students from other countries. Now when she hears of one getting married or having a baby she is ready.

Cute quilt. I wouldn't quilt anything on the quilt because it probably won't show up.

I agree. Won't take that long since you have the basics down. You can always add as soon as you hear if it's a boy or a girl and add a little skirt or cap or overalls to it.

I would definitely appliqué an elephant, teddy or whatever. It is already cute & an appliqué will make it that much better! I would do the blanket stitch by machine. Use white thread, or whatever main colour your backing is, in your bobbin and the stitching will hardly be noticeable on the back.
