Hi Lucky...I just used "stash" green fabric and cut them 2 1/2" wide and various lengths. I had wanted to buy a green batik jelly roll, but the store I went to didn't have one...so I just used the greens I already had. It seemed to work out ok. I think fat quarters would work well, especially for a small quilt. Enjoy, if you decide to make one of these.
