Thank you for the sweet words all. I am going to use various juvenile flannel prints for sashing. A different one between each block and another for around the outside border. I will be using the flannel from the receiving blanket for cornerstones as there isn't enough left for anything more and I hope it will tie the flannel prints together by having all the same cornerstones. I think I will make 3" sashings. If I don't have enough different flannel prints, then I will duplicate some. This is going to be a throw, and I will back it with fleece, no batting. For quilting, I will echo the outfits and then do straight lines thru the sashing and binding.
I will be sure to post the quilt when it is finished!!

The first year quilt is not my original idea, I saw it on Pinterest. My Google search revealed several ways to make them. Mine is a composite of a couple I saw, plus my own ideas for the sashing and border. I chose the lighthouse theme border because the decorative theme of his baby nursery was Ocean.
