I think "applique" is a 4 letter word. I have tried and cannot do it-it is not a skill I will get better at with practice either. I have given up!!

But I LOVE applique quilts. In 2004, when I was living in the DC area there was an exhibition of antique Baltimore Album Quilts at a museum in Baltimore. I spent a wonderful day there with several quilting friends. I took these pictures and wanted to share them with you. I was not allowed to use a flash, so not all of the pics are great, but you can still see the fabulous work these ladies did.

OMG! I bruised my chin on the desk!! Those are gorgeous beyond belief. Some things I just have to accept that I will never be able to accomplish...walking on water and a Baltimore Album Quilt are at the top of the list. Thanks for sharing, Marcia.

Baltimore Album is on my to-do list, but I will paper piece mine. I'm waaayyy too slow at applique. I would never get it finished.

Those are so awesome! I'd love to be able to do one of those. I saw the Baltimore Shot Tower in there!

I work in Baltimore and D.C.

I haven't tried the needle turn applique. Truthfully, I don't think I have the patience for it. I imagine those quilts tooks years to make.

I have Baltimore Albums on my list of have to do. I have not the slightest idea that I could come anywhere close to anything of that magnificent beauty but I have to give it my best shot. ("Baltimore, MY Way",-- or--"Baltimore, TeXas Style "maybe? :) )

I have been collecting patterns for years, belong to all the Baltimore sites, pick their brains for any & all details.

I am 76 1/2 years old--I might ought to hurry up & get started?

Thank you so much for these wonderful px! This type of Baltimore Album is probably as close as I will ever get to the real thing.

I'm lost for words, those are absolutely breathtaking. I have my favourites - all of them
I've had one attempt at needle turn applique, still working on it will have to post the block when it's done.
I would love to experience seeing an original in front of me. You are so lucky to have been in the right place at the right time.
Many thanks for sharing these wonderful quilt pictures.
