Hey Karla. I can't decide between #2 and #3 on the border treatment. I think #2, with the dark outside and light inside, gives the best focus on the main part of the quilt. Definitely do not go with #4. Even though I love, love, love the look, my eye literally keeps being drawn away from the quilt and into the borders. I find myself ignoring all the hard work you did with the barns and staring at the border. I really love the border but I think for this piece it is too strong.
My main suggestion would be to take pictures and try a lot of different things before settling on the final borders. Since you are already doing that, I guess I have nothing more to add.
It sure is turning out to be quite an amazing quilt. I imagine it will be one of those treasures that gets passed down as an heirloom. Great job!

Here is my 2 cents worth. I like the lights toward the quilt and the dark part toward the outside. Makes a nice light airy frame for the quilt which is oolala beautiful. Nice work. It really is beautiful :!:

My daughter said if the zigzag was the same on the left side her head could deal with it-- :D I think it resembles a barber shop pole.
I don't like how the lights against the quilt don't match the greens, but I love the dark on the outside. I DO like how the darks against the quilt end the picture--give it closure somehow, but then the lights are just off--out there serving no specific purpose.
I'll play with other options this week. (Are there other options :?: )
Then again I could whip a simple solid green border on it, use the log cabin squares for a mini quilt and avoid the decision.

I like the third option best (simple alternating blocks), but the fourth is a very good option too, in my opinion! I am glad you went "outside the box / book" to consider these options! 8) :D

OK... I finally read the comments on page 9 (got distracted on page 8 ). I agree that #4 is ia great look, but is also a bit of a distraction from your FABULOUS top, so my primary vote is still for #3. However, whatever you choose to do will be great! INCREDIBLE QUILT!!!!

Ooohh! Tough decision! I think I am liking #2 the best, although #3 is a strong contender too! Take your time and enjoy the mulling process. Your creative spark will inspire you. This has been a great thread!

This has been a great thread!
I did play with the border squares and decided to finish this thread right and not stop before the end was truly here. Like following through with a commitment so to speak.
Here you go for anyone who wishes to offer advice. I'm befuddled. But you all knew that.
But the quarter turn one seems to be a nice compromise between all 7s and mountain ones.
I'll attach the photo of the darks in in mountains next--remember on the previous one I had the top squares turned the wrong way.
