Just gorgeous! And just think...you've made her something that she can use long after her baby stage is over.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful compliments!! You have all convinced me that I didn't "break the baby quilt rules"!! By the way, I posted this at 2am when I woke up and couldn't fall back to sleep and must have been out of my mind. The pattern came from www.e-patternscentral.com. Click on quilting then on wall hangings and then on classics. The quilt should be the first one shown.

Also, just so you know, the butterflies on the borders were not part of the pattern. I thought the border looked a little blah, so I took the butterfly template and reduced it on my copier to either 65 or 75% of the original size to make the butterflies to applique on the borders. Just wanted to let you know because I got a couple of PM's asking about the pattern. Thanks everyone!!

I think it is beautiful and will be fine for an infant. Today's babies use a lot of dark colors and bright colors. It was hard for me to understand when my DDIL asked for brown/blue and brown/pink for our twin grandchildren 2 years ago. That is just the way it is now. I think your DD will be very happy with your quilt.

That looks like tons of work for a baby to drag around and throw up on. Perhaps it will hang on the wall, or just be decorative. It is sophisticated and yet whimsical and very beautiful. Gracie will get more quilts as you get to know her better. Perhaps some simpler ones too.

Gorgeous quilt, you did a beautiful job!

My cousin has requested to make her (2) toddler girl butterfly quilts (appliques, of course), but I already have in mind what I'll be making for the little girls.

    I like yours.
