That quilt is beautiful! I love that you are happy he is taking it with him to the nursing home. I also agree with Tartan about sewing on a label.

I hope that it doesn't disappear frm his retirement center. Beautiful items have a way of disappearing from senior citizens in these homes.

[QUOTE=Bamagal;5796204]My BIL had one more quilt up his sleeve. This one was made by his Grandmother before he was born. (He was born in 1927) It is hand appliqued and hand quilted and again, we don't know the pattern. This one he is taking with him to the retirement center. It is in mint condition and the pictures do not do it justice. It is by far my favorite. I am glad he has decided to take it with him! Thanks for looking!

Absolutely put on a label and make sure it is on securely. Also, let the staff there SEE YOU taking pictures of BIL
on or near that quilt. My husband was in a nursing home for 3 years, and so much of his stuff went missing that
I finally gave up and gave him just what they said to get him. Most of the thefts, said the staff, was done by either
visitors and/or mentally "off" patients. Discuss with the staff how much it should be insured for...no matter if you
insure it or not..

Wow, how lucky is that? Talk about exquisite ! I don't blame him for keeping it for himself - it is magnificent.
What an absolute treasure.

Everyone is saying 'sew a label on it'....and I say: make it big, include 'washing instructions' or 'don't wash, or something so the home doesn't ruin it. Make sure that the person he designates the 'heir' to the quilt is also listed, or you will NEVER get it back.
That is such a beauty, you wouldn't want to have it 'gone missing'!

Ramona Byrd said it just so:
