This isn't regarding the quilt, but when my first grandchild was on the way, I bought books for him - every once in awhile - and on the inside front cover, I wrote him a letter about what was happening that day, how I was feeling about being a gramma for the first time, how much I looked forward to seeing him, etc. It was a treasure for him in later years - I got to hold him right after birth and we bonded - SOOOO special. I missed that with the other three.

So funny. Anyway I think you should do what your heart tells you. I am so very happy for you and your family. I would probably give it now and then label it later. Just my thoughts. Keep us posted.:):):)

Thanks so much for sharing that with me....gives me some ideas of how I can "make memories" even before he/she is here.

i would wait until he/she is born
then it will be special for them - when you put the label on and sign the book
because I am sure you will have more Grandbabies and you will want them all to have their own special gifts from you too
believe me it won't take you long to add a special label and sign the book!!!
you are going to absolutely love being a Grandma!!

Congratulations. We just had our first the 16th of Nov. My feet haven't touched the ground yet. He is perfect, of course. Also about a month ago, our son found out they are pregnant. She was told she would never have a child. They are in their mid 30's. It is a girl. We are over the moon. I know you are probably like me and have been waiting for this most of your life. It took me over 3 yrs to get pregnant so for a long while I thought I would never to able to be a Grandmother. People will tell you there is nothing like it but it is even so much more than that. There aren't words for it. So happy for you. Warning, you want to be making them something every minute you aren't with them.
