I was wondering about that aspect of leaving the paper on. Does it matter the kind of register tape used - do some really just melt into the batting? Or do you get lumpy little balls eventually no matter the type of paper?

Scrappy doesn't normally appeal to me but I really love your scrappy quilt. The way the white sets off your strips of scrappy fabrics is really very nice - the design is rather modern looking. I really like it and will have to get some register tape now because my little scraps are multiplying.

Very pretty and it's nice to know the tape can left in. As all tape may not be the same, I think I'll try a placemat first. Dollar Store tape should be thinner than office supply, hmm.

the paper won't eventually bunch into balls in the quilt?

I would think so and there are other alternatives if you want to leave it on. There are sheets of "paper" that are completely dissolvable that are sold at Joannes etc. I would also worry that long term this will cause problems. I take all my regular paper off completely too.
