    "Cathedral Window Blue" (in progress)

I have had several requests for an updated photo of my progress. It is currently measuring about 104" x 36". I am experiencing some shrinkage as I go, but I expected so. Currently I have 11 "units" complete and 25 to go. It has been slow progress due to 2 other non quilting projects that had to take priority over this one. Both of those are in progress as well. Seems as if I am always multi tasking, lol. I hope this photo will inspire others to pull their UFO back out. Slow progress is better than no progress. I would love to see what others have come up with using the CW.

the pictures are small so it was difficult for me to determine but are you using all the same fabric for the windows? Also, what are you using for the background fabric? Is it muslin or regular quilting fabric? I think I read somewhere that someone was using a Kona muslin. I know muslin is cheaper and that it takes alot of fabric to make a CW but after it is done, I want it to hold up. Do you have a recommendation on the background fabric? BTW, love the blue against the white. Blue is my favorite color though. Thanks for the info.

Thank you all so much for your kind words! Your encouragement keeps me moving forward on it.
@hopetoquilt: to answer your questions…. Yes, I am using same print fabric (blue) and using small muslin pieces to break up the pattern. My background is "premium muslin" bought from Hobby Lobby. It tends to give a lot so if you have a choice and have the funds, I would recommend 100% cotton as I don't think it would stretch as bad. I'm sure one of these nice peeps could better advise. I would think it would be heavier using something other than muslin, though. Not sure I am making since, but hope it helps. I am reposting one of my earlier photos being it is closer. This is when I was deciding layout, etc. Therefore windows in part of it weren't finished at the time. If you click on the photos, they should open up larger in a separate window.

I have never seen a cathedrel window done all in one color. Yours is absolutely beautiful. Makes me want to try one, too.

Stunning, I am so glad you posted an updated picture. That will be amazing when it is finished. Wow, keep up the great work! You inspire those, like me, to keep trying and advancing our skills one project at a time.

Thanks for the larger photo. I think the fabric that you chose for the windows is perfect. I am probably going to use kona white fabric when I make mine. I want to make one using the same fabric throughout, too. Thanks for the information.

I like the single-fabric in the windows idea - sure makes much of the process a lot easier and much faster!!! I really like the "framing" of the squares a lot, too! This is such a striking quilt - thanks so much for sharing with us!

I like what you have done so far on this project. I have not yet attempted to do a cathedral window but maybe in the far future. I really like the simplicity of the blue and white you have chosen.
