Beautifully done, Becka. Thanks for sharing the pictures and the story. Like you, I am a "melting pot" American with Cherokee from the distant past.... proud to be Native American in any way. God bless you for keeping traditions like this alive and well.

A wonderful quilt and a beautiful story - and I am sorry for your loss. :-) It's interesting that so many of the more ancient cultures have such constructive and healing ways of dealing with grief - it seems to me that this is something we could all benefit from. :-D My DH and I were only talking about this last night, in relation to ancient cultures, the worship of Mother Earth, being in touch with nature and seeing ourselves as a part of the natural cycle of things rather than a species apart. :-D
