On the string quilt, I found that the last diagonal pieces on the upper & lower corners showed up better if I used larger pieces there so they wouldn't get obscured by the joining seams.
On the Buggy Wheels quilt, I laid out each row before I sewed the pieces together so I could be sure the seams on the HSTs, with the lighter side/darker side, were facing the right way according to the picture.
It was a lot of work but so satisfying to see all those scraps take shape into something usable. Being reversible not only uses up twice as many scraps but also results in "two" different quilts that only take up as much space on the shelf as one quilt.

On the string quilt side, did you piece it to a foundation piece? You have much larger squares without the binding running thru them. I love the looks of that. I am contemplating using a flannel instead of batting since there are so many seams. It might lighten it up a bit, and with that I am guessing I could just use that as my foundation.
I just sewed the string strips onto flimsy paper, pressed and cut to size with an 8.5" square, then removed the paper. Sewed four of them together, with the light sides joined, ending up with 16.5" final size square.
