So glad you're inspired and finding it "so darn much fun"! Thanks for saying so.

On the string quilt, I found that the last diagonal pieces on the upper & lower corners showed up better if I used larger pieces there so they wouldn't get obscured by the joining seams.
On the Buggy Wheels quilt, I laid out each row before I sewed the pieces together so I could be sure the seams on the HSTs, with the lighter side/darker side, were facing the right way according to the picture.

It was a lot of work but so satisfying to see all those scraps take shape into something usable. Being reversible not only uses up twice as many scraps but also results in "two" different quilts that only take up as much space on the shelf as one quilt.

Yes, I used pretty much whatever there wasn't enough of to do anything else with. Sort of throwing in 'everything but the kitchen sink'.

My thoughts also. How your quilting matched is beyond my talent. If you ever get tired of it, I can send you my address. LOL

Flannel would probably work well as both foundation & batting in one. Good idea; I'll be interested to see how that works for you. It's surprising how much weight is added by the zillions of seams from all that piecing.
I just sewed the string strips onto flimsy paper, pressed and cut to size with an 8.5" square, then removed the paper. Sewed four of them together, with the light sides joined, ending up with 16.5" final size square.

This link is to a posting by Ditter that includes how to join QAYG blocks (about 1/2 way through her excellent tutorial).

I made all the Buggy Wheels blocks first, then made all the string quilt blocks, sandwiched them, one reversible block at a time, and quilted that block with stitch-in-the-ditch on the Buggy Wheels side. Joined the quilted blocks, using "Ditter's String Quilt" tutorial.
Thanks for your kind words!
