This is for one of my guild's block exchanges. 18 blocks all the same with Autumn colors. Do you like this? Would like to receive it?

Should I change the colors? Please be honest, I can change everything right now, not in another 17 blocks, though.

I will call it floating variable star.

I like it. It is traditional with a twist.

I like the block with the floating look. the star background blends in with the sashing - is that the look you want?

I love floating blocks of any kind. I'm not crazy about oranges and golds but if there's some burgundy, dk green, all the fall colors thrown in I think it will be one awesome looking quilt. And remember, that's just me (on orange and gold) other people love those colors. As far as the block itself, it's wonderful. Yes, I would gladly receive a quilt made like this. Do you need my address? LOL

I also agree with ktbb, a little more contrast between background and border might look better.

Not sure, I am not the one that goes with "lights". My usual forte is batiks with black. I just want it to look like a finished block that was thrown down.

I am not crazy about this orange fabric either, but it was in my stash, I have no idea if I bought it or if it was from an exchange, ect. I can use it up and make all of the blocks and only have to keep one! Time to move this ugly stuff out.

The only requirement color wise was off white and fall colors.

Like the star, like the color. but not crazy about the blue. I think a very narrow , real narrow, edging of the blue all around the star would be pretty. But then, I'm not real good at the designing part.Carol

i definitely like all the fabrics except the one used for the star. they all coordinate beautifully for sure. the subtle change in values between the background and border gives it movement and dimension - especially with that clever shadow border.

i will not say i don't like the star fabric or that it doesn't coordinate because there's no way i can be sure. i'd have to see it in person. a photograph can totally change the color pallette and appearance of a quilt.

considering how lovely and well coordinated all the others are, i'll bet the star fab also looks great in person.
