Great news! Now I can only hope that my local Walmart will bring it back. Ours was one of the first to close the fabric department and they do not carry any of the precuts or kits that the rest of you are talking about. If you ask any of the employees, they say that there's no way fabric is coming back there in any way, shape or form. :(

That is great news. I can only hope that our store will be one of the 700 to get fabric back.

Well now that the fabric is back at our local store, it sure would be nice if there was an associate around to cut it. I stood one day almost 10 mins. waiting on someone to show up, and the line was growing. Oh and I had to grab a pharmacy associate on her way back to the pharmacy to pleas call someone.
Today I stopped by just to glance and found a neet fabric I would have liked to have and at $2 a yard. I was going to buy what was left on the bolt. They finally got a bell back on the table to ring for assistance. I did 4 times. After about 7-8 mins I decided I didn't want the fabric that bad because I still had an hour and a half drive to Newport on the coast to meet my son.
Yeah, as soon as I get a moment I will be sending a quick note via email to corprate telling them they won't sell much if they don't have someone at least within earshot of that bell to come cut it. One of the ladys one day told me she was covering not only fabric and crafts but two other nearby depts to. OH and before you think i'm WalMart bashing, I have started looking upon their recent changes as positive, not so much this one.

Hello to all from sunny and HOT!!! northeast Florida. I spoke with the manager of my local Walmart here in Yulee and he said that he knew that he had lost customers when the fabric dept. closed. There were many people that would drive down from Georgia and buy fabric here and now they shop elsewhere. He told me that he was trying to get the fabric back but wasn't sure he could. I told him that all of us who enjoy sewing and quilting appreciate his efforts. I really do think it helps to talk to the store managers and express you opinions.

From what I was told, they are beginning to carry some Debbie Mumm fabric also. A lot of the fabric I have purchased there is the same quality as I have seen in the LQS. I feel that the high volume that Wal Mart purchases allows them to carry the fabric at a lower cost.
