I didn't actually use a pattern. I watched this video for the background, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aC6-GyD0f6s, and then I made a raw edge applique for the silhouette. I used some of my rescue dog's photos for the silhouettes. I traced around the photo using freezer paper, holding it up to the window and then used the freezer paper technique for the raw applique.

Those are absolutely beautiful, Paula! I'm sure they'll sell quickly and will be very much appreciated. Kinda makes the one (yes only one!) I'm working on look pretty lame by comparison, but I'm going to finish and send it anyway. Yours give me something to aspire to with their creativity and workmanship. Thanks for sharing!

I have enjoyed making several postcards and sending them (none so beautiful as yours though!). The only information I have to offer is that the postage required on these is not the same from postal clerk to postal clerk. It may be more economical, depending on how thick, lumpy, rigid, etc. to send them in envelopes, which would also give protection. But then you have a greeting card instead of a postcard.
Have fun making them.
P.S. I make mine using that very heavy fusible Pellon interfacing and using a zigzag rotary cutter for the outer edge combined with a row of stitching an eighth or quarter inch inside the edge. Fabric is on both sides.

Yes #1piecemaker, they will get to their destination. I am making about a dozen, for a fundraiser for animals, so I will be putting them in the mail in one big envelope
. But from what I understand, they can be sent through the mail. They will be "hand-stamped" rather than put through the postal machines. And as another person mentioned, they will most likely cost a little more to send. Once I get the other ones done, I'll post them. I plan to make several different breeds.....although I am partial to Minpins!
