Default Finishes - graduation and birthday gifts

I need to learn how to do good machine bindings. Hand stitching the bindings on these two king sized quilts was not only very time consuming but hard on fingers, thumbs, wrists.
Oh well, worth it when they are done.

the paper pieced Stars quilt from Carol Doak's 50 stars for 50 states book is a graduation gift,
the Ginny Beyer lone star ( Lotus) quilt is a birthday gift. Both finished in May. Boy, glad they are done!

Both are very pretty, love the colors in both.

I'm lucky; my DD put the bindings on for me. My hands won't let me do that anymore.

They are both fabulous. I have never understood the value of hand binding. I could make another entire quilt in the time it takes to hand bind one, and I don't see advantage. But your quilts are just gorgeous!

I love them both, but that Lone Star is really speaking to me. Excellent job.
